well after a few days, i finally got it on, It was my video card was the main prob. It could boot into KDE or whatever cuz my card is to new. Im gonna put 98 on my other HD and see if i can boot into that also.

og config? nah man backup a copy of yours, so everythigns the same when you put your old copy back in. all you have to do is just double click the CSfull15.exe or CS1005.exe, I dont see why ppl think its that hard and it only takes 20 seconds..........what can u lose?

hrm...Ive seen choke rise during lots of action but never loss, When iput cs back on my comp after a format, I had a constant 100 choke and some loss. I just reinstalled cs and it fixed it. My suggestion would be reinstall CS, be sure and save a copy of your config though.

u guys shouldnt have any fps drops, unless your running like a 600 Mhz processor, be sure to get the latest drivers from nvidia and turn vsync off, make sure your running in open gl also. btw, the Ti8000 is just and 8x agp version of the Ti 4200.

loss is caused by your isp, but choke can usually be changed by settings...

well, Im installing Mandrake 9.0. My comp is all messed up now. Ive done so much formatting and partitioning, I dont know whats is what lol. Acctually I keep all my downloads/drivers on my other hard drive so im not to worried, makes it very easy to get up and running again. Ok, So I go to install Mandrake 9 for about the 5th time. I set up the partitions, i get the message "error no base system found" So finally i give up and put xp back on...This time when installing XP pro. I get the message cannot find file...there was a bunch of them in the i386 folder, I kept hitting ignore and it loaded, but now I have no internet explorer. I did not see anything about a bootloader. where is it at?

which did you install first linux or windows?

aight im trying to dual boot with linux/Xp pro. I have formatted and installed linux and xp many times in the last few days. If i have Xp installed and I then install linux on another partition, it will not let me boot into XP again. it comes up with options and then says invalid systems disc when i try windows. So I am assuming that when I install linux it does something to my boot sector. Any suggestions? tips?

I really cant tell you why it is any better, but it just is, you will see if you ever install it, boots and shuts down faster, much more stable. No need for third party software to make a cd, just drag the file to your cdrom drive....um...it comes in the nasty blue, but you can change it to make it look just like 98. Makes your comp a lil faster, overall much better IMO

nerd! lol j/k, Ive never had the balls to take a monitor apart. First, because I have never really had any trouble with them and second, I did know they store enough energy to make all my hair stick up and turn my face black if I do somethign wrong. So I have a monitor that is turned a weird color from a magnet sitting beside it. Is that fixable by taking it apart? Next, my roomate has a monitor that is always yellow, I think its because the pins are messed up on the cord(which is non removable) Do you think it would be possible to attach a different vga cable to it?

well i found a way to convert back to fat32 without having to write zeros to the drive.....Windows setup will only allow for NTFS, if that is the current file system. I downloaded the newest WD boot up disc, works great.

Let me add this.....I now install CS, it takes me forever to connect to a server and my choke is 100!?!? I have no idea what the deal is, and ive done 2 reformats today. the second one, I selected Format and partition using NTFS, not the one that say NTFS(quick). It runs a better now, but still has problems accessing the cd drive and certain folder like network connections.

So I do a format today and put ntfs on instead of fat32. So now my comp is really slow bringing up windows and it sometimes seems like it might lock up. But after a few minutes of running, I can hit alt+ctrl+del and end the process run32dll.exe and everything starts working perfect.....btw Im using Xp pro...anyone know how I can set it to not run that program or fix this whole issue?
