That bit was duplicating the stuff on top now. Plus more sql hits. The recently discussed block above this is all the latest six posted-in topics (minus basement stuff) and you pick up the rest by clicking view new content which most people hit anyways when they walk in the door. Did you really need/use that block a lot?

I used it more than the view new content option, some posts from that day were there but not always showing in the recent area. But it makes sense to remove it, so it shall stay and I will use the new content area more.

When you do view new content button, look to the left of hte screen - there are a ton of options on how to display stuff. New since last visit, new over the last 24 hours whether you've read it already or not, etc. - give it a try
