cool dweez, thanks for the info. I dont even use it I use partition magic. but also when you say you reset your bios it wont reset a flash. Am I right about that? I believe it will only reset on settings in the bios but there are things written (flashed) to the chip. So I think you cant just pull the batt out. My next guess is you'd have to re-flash hoping the virus didnt destroy you chip. Do you have a motherboard make and model? Aug

also one more thing repartition the drive then format using /s /u ie: format c: /s /u u means unrecoverable data so that it completely erases everything off the disk. If you don't its not a overwrite format just a table re-write. let us know

My first guess shaw is the bios was flashed by the virus. It's becoming more and more popular. Not only that but theyre writing V that will flash your componenets to ruin them. Some v are so bad it closes up the bios i/o so you can no longer flash to fix meaning your equip is DUST! There are some protective measures AV being the first. The only thing I could say after V is "ATHALON". Bet you 1000000000 bucks its a A mb. Certain A's have system probs after time. Don't know why but I think it existed from early A to about 1.3 ghz machines. I believe they fixed the problems they were having in the later models. Perhaps not. I have 3 freinds and all 3 of their athalons went south doing similar stuff. Black screen but signal was being received. Change graphics card, NO GOOD, re-seat CPU, NO GOOD, we figured it was best to buy whole new MB and chip for the money of replacing parts we never knew was good. " Besides a descent ath is with MB is obly about 130.00 for like a 1.8. I use Pentium4 but thats not near enough machinges to say its a prob with A. When I think about it Installation completed? wierd I think everything I just typed was wind! cause if you get to installation then your darn close to home. almost a year ago I bought a 1920nx 19" digital flat screen NEC monitor. I let family use the computer. To my dismay I have come home to find a big ol scratch on my monitor. The disturbing thing is none of them confess. So it leaves me with a choice. What would you do? Not let them use the comp till someone fesses. Let them even though someones lying. Now someone might say "perhaps auggy you scratched it" for those of you who spend 600.00 bucks on digital flat screen you darn well you know everthing you do around that thing. I'd know if I did it. I didn't do it FOR SURE! I don't even touch it with my fingers worrying about dead pixels. watch but my thoughts (thoughts not insistence) is that if there is micro life on other planets shouldn't they adapt to their enviroment and then grow into something better. If evolution is true then I would assume micro life on other plantes would be very young. If we say well the conditions don't allow the micro organism to mature then evolution is false (i think) since the MO should have adapted thus allowing it to grow into a much more complex organism??? If we say the MO does indeed adapt to it's enviroment then where are the space men on pluto from over millions of years of adapting and evoloving. Just thoughts, Aug

I think what is compelling concerning this issue is that some christians feel that if the earth is old that creationism is faulty. I don't believe Genesis is being scientifically detailed or literal. I don't think if there are millions of years between each literal day God must be a liar. I just think it may be possible God is telling he made man and sin entered the world via this man and woman. I don't buy the young earth view nor do I dismiss the adam naval theory. I simply don't know the answer to such questions but I still believe there is a God and he made man. I certainly don't buy the Gator laid a egg and out came a polar bear idea. Aug

I must put my NON-cents into this... sorry guys I know I run alot of smack but this conv is good. My thoughts on micro and macro??? this is not a fact but a question. If evolution is true would there not be life on mars? After all isnt the point of micro to adapt to the enviroment...thus enabling macro. In fact I see no macro evolution. So if life on mars (algea, bacteria, viral) is found is it fair to say evolution will be found bunk. If it is not bunk then I would assume that billions of years ago these cells should have adapted to the mars atmosphere then evolved to a greater existence. Thus creating more life. What about other plantes? I've never done a study on evolution but I think I've got the main concepts down. Of course I realize some would say..."even if they find life (bacterial) on mars theres no animals or humans walking around cause they cannot live in such atmosphere" the obvious response being "I thought they should have adapted" I guess I'm thinking if evolution is true then there should be massive life just about everywhere. and if the conditions have to be just right then adaptation of evolution seems a bit weak. any thoughts auggy
