  1. Yeah, by tonight, I mean Thursday night (though I should really clean up the place...) Hmm... UT or clean house.... Decisions... Server is up atm btw. Maintenance might be complete. -Fk
  2. So there you go. Got parental units and a significant female invading my domicile tonight - I'm out of it for a few days - catch you folks when I get some free times. -Fk
  3. There is *no* way this will drop for the PS3 before the PC. Any and all release dates are just crack-addled marketing folk spewing forth dates to get pre-orders. -Fk
  4. In-house they are playing it like mad. All beta testing is done in-house as well (been that way for all of them I believe) Only thing close to a limited beta is the demo which they will release one month before they ship. They'll take feedback for the first 2-3 weeks the demo is out (probably looking specifically at server/internet performance), tweak it a touch, then release it. Even the sucky DM playing movies seem alright to me (seeing as I suck at DM) -Fk
  5. The chatter on the epic forums is kinda the same - people want someone who knows *how* to dm to play in these things so we can really see stuff. That is, until someone points out that often times these movies are from demos given to large numbers of peoples, in big auditoriums, with the demo projected on very large screens. Apparently, there are "issues" with motion sickness in the audiences So, you end up with almost no jumping whatsoever. Ditto for quick turns. And weapon selection is: choose one, use it awhile, move to something else. If you look in the background, some of the other bots are using other weapons (goo is one I think) Games for Windows magazine (formerly Computer Gaming) - March issue - spos'd to have a UT3 preview - so look for that in a few days. -Fk
  6. lol - sent one as well without looking here - back up now naturally -Fk
  7. New flak cannon featured at beginning, then some rocket, ends with link. Other weapons can be seen in play by the other bots/players, various unknown pickups, etc. I've just gone ahead and dl'd the high res (640) version and mirrored here. WMV format. UT3 DM video - 25.5 meg - wmv format -Fk
  8. Sounds like sarcasm, though I'll take the paypal dime. BootVis, if you can find it, is also very much recommended. A Microsoft util (though they pulled it fairly quickly) that tracks your boot up then rearranges drives, etc. so you come up rather fast. From pushing the power button to a fully booted machine is about 20 seconds tops for my old P4 agp sys. If you can't find it I can mirror it here -Fk
  9. Uhhhh..... uhhhh..... uh... Where'd this necro thread bump come from? I mean, I can add stuff here I guess about the whole backstory, etc but again I say uh.... -Fk
  10. It's mainly about ownership. Seeing Temerity not really be used for a few months was kinda sad - and not exactly financially prudent. I figure it is best to have some of the folks who have the time for TWL to be in the loop with this rather than mere substitute player me. That way if the TWL starts slacking off, those getting the bill might either kick some folks into playing more or be quicker to shut it down (unlike me... ) I gots no time for full on TWL play - even regular Thrs night practices don't work for me seeing as I get back to Bloomington between 1000pm and 1130pm those nights - still have to be just a sub I'm afraid. -Fk
  11. Why can't all timezones have free eggs and candy? No fair. -Fk
  12. And we have a winner Sry Ap. Super secret GC member who was #2 says they will take it. And a kind thanks to him/her for doing so. -Fk
  13. Nope - didn't bother to check for that. Never bothered me so I won't bother it -Fk
  14. For reference as things here seem to indicate the eBay auction will come down
  15. Was going to do that with this as well - i.e. dash board computer in the Xterra - never got around to it. Anyways, one stick or two... Survey says... One -Fk
  16. What he said. It all goes to the fact that tablets have the whole digitizer thing as the underlying tech - it means it *knows* exactly where the stylus is at all times - so handwriting recognition is amazing. PocketPCs are all based on touch screen tech - which isn't nearly as accurate. I'm still waiting for the 15 inch tablet thats really thin. Might be a year or two away yet. Throw a 40 or 80 gig hd on there, only have two usb ports, wireless, and audio in/out. Keep the weight at or under 2 pounds and academia will take to them like (insert inappropriate metaphor here) -Fk
  17. This is one of the first gen of tablet pc. There are naturally, newer models now, bigger, more memory, more power, etc. I would not be planning on running Vista on this, or playing CS:S. Google Motion M1200 for most of the specs. Firewire: Yes USB 1.1: Yes x 2 USB 2.0: No External Monitor Out: Yes Modem: Yes Ethernet: Yes Wireless 11Mbs: Yes Mic in: Yes Audio out: Yes PCMCIA Cardbus slot: Yes As I mention in the auction desc., I'm selling because I just don't use it enough. Between my desktop with the 24" wide and the 19" std lcd, plus my work 17" notebook, I'm not hurting for computing power and mainly use those two. I wanted to try the whole tablet thing out so took a lark on this unit a year ago, to perhaps replace my pocketpc. Appalachian will probably attest to this - the handwriting recognition is amazing as the underlying tech is a digitizing tablet (think CAD) as opposed to touch sensitive. When I do upgrade my notebook I will be seriously thinking about a tablet/notebook hybrid. - as it stands now though, this mainly just sits in my living room, and even then, if I surf, its with the media pc on the projector (again - so much computing crap around here...) My doctor has a newer gateway version of these tablets - 14.1 inch, etc. Looks gorgeous. This is 12.1 or so inches for screen and seems to be built like a tank relatively speaking. Unless your computer bag/backpack is filled with sharp rocks, just chucking this in there like a book is no problem at all. No stand - just the tablet, stylus, and ac adapter. Don't even have the cover for the screen. Speaking of which, it is fine - no dead pixels that I can tell (there might be though). The only screen scuffs are: 1) A totally hair line scritch in the lower left. 2) A scruff mark area where, at the medical center, thier forms probably had an enter button so the stylus always hit that place. No big deal XP 2005 op sys. Aside from Vista, the most recent tablet operating system. Essentially XP service pack 2 with tablet stuff. Office 2003 installed Adobe Acrobat installed I have "backups" of the operating system - never used them - just got them in case... Lower right scratch Scruff mark from stylus hits in same place -Fk Quik follow up Geek has dibs as first poster. Someone else is second - Geek, you need to decide sooner rather than later otherwise I'll just flip it to #2. By sooner I mean, kinda sorta now... 20 gig hard drive (formats to 18.9) , after the operating system, Office 2003 and Adobe Acrobat has 12.9 gig left Yes, you can change from landscape to vertical display - just a couple taps of the stylus to do that. Battery life is in the 2 to 3 hour range. Closer to 2 when you are all ups in the wireless, maybe a tad under if you start pounding the hard drive in addition to the wireless. Works off AC just fine naturally, recharge is a couple hours. And as for the "scratches" keep in mind that the surface of this is meant to take a pounding with the stylus - the underlying LCD is flawless. -Fk
  18. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...p;rd=1&rd=1 First auction got sporged, so relisted but will end if anyone here wants it $220 shipped -Fk
  19. Sry man - all old. Get with the program will ya? EDIT: roflpie! They may not be new screenshots but the comments on the page are fantastic -Fk
  20. Super Berserk is a stock mutator - doubles the rate of all weapon fire - and is rather enjoyable in limit doses As for the sacrifices... Well. That you must observe/participate first hand. -Fk
  21. Ventrillo from here on out - ts is dead to us. Esp as our vent server is entirely comped (and large too) Subscription is already canceled for our private server. It gets its plug pulled at the end of february (early 20's?) The choices are either: 1) Password Nepenthe when its time for prac and matches. This will put a bit of a dent in our pub. reputation as folks might not cotton to the server not being accessible when it is supposed to be avail but we can deal with it. 2) Someone else pics up the subscription for our private before the end of feb. and takes donations from the assembled masses. I'm out of the loop on this one - someone else can run with this ball if they like. $25/month is what it costs. I comped halfsies since we started it long ago, I really can't justify the halfsies anymore after the long down time of 3 months (Nov thru Jan). Obviously, its sounds like the twl fires are burning again so - hooray and stuff - and I'll certainly kick in every now and then, but someone else can take ownership as it were of the private - if that is the consensus. I'll flip it to crossfire and super berserk for the hell of it now. The super berserk is just me, naturally, but I think some folks must be sacrificed the the god of fire and I believe they have yet to experience such splendors yet... -Fk
  22. It means someone decided to knock on my door to ask if the car is for sale. The car has never been for sale yet people tend to ask anyways... Pros are for taking the money, the cons are why I kinda don't... -Fk
  23. 1991 Honda CRX Si Door knock offer of $1500 cash Pros: Car is in rough body shape (rust) - Underneath as well - Hasn't been garaged for years. New head gasket, timing belt work in the next 20,000 miles easily Needs new struts but the rust may make the replacement problematic (think torching out bushings and what that would mean) Cons: I love the s.o.b. Blast to drive. Engine runs flawlessly 35 mpg even when I drive like an idiot. 40 mpg when I don't. New tires so handles great, though a rough ride. Freaking torn on this. Been driving the Xterra a lot with the turn in the weather but the 300 to 400 miles a week commute at 18 mpg does suck substantially; the crx usually handles the commute mileage. So. Thoughts? (And yes, people knock on my door, pull along side me at 65 mph on the freeway, etc. asking if it is for sale - this guy is just the most recent) -Fk
