Guest PDO August 17, 2004 Share Guest PDO Guests August 17, 2004 Alright, so today I decide I'll install the stick of 512 ram (PC 2700) I bought in the states for dirt cheap.. take out the old stick, pop this one in and bring my PC back downstairs. Turn it on, hear it making noise, everything looks fine... except my monitor will not show anything at all from the PC. The only thing I could think of is its because I ahve 2 sticks of ram in the PC and one's 2100 and one's 2700 could that be it? If not, what else? All Kill3r August 17, 2004 Share All Kill3r Member August 17, 2004 your bios is probaly set to (SPD) or AUTO for Dram settings. Does it work when thats the only RAM installed ? If so your bios is set on SPD or AUTO dram setting, bump the vdimm voltage up a notch and put both in. Should boot.

Guest PDO August 17, 2004 Share Guest PDO Guests August 17, 2004 Tried it with just the 512 stick.. no dice. Going to make sure that the vid card didn't come lose.. How would I go about doing what you've said Killer?
Guest PDO August 17, 2004 Share Guest PDO Guests August 17, 2004 As far as I can tell there's no problem with the video card.. should I try it with just the 256 stick? (Before I had dual 256 pc 2100.. now one of those sticks is sittin in this pc)
All Kill3r August 17, 2004 Share All Kill3r Member August 17, 2004 yea, make sure it still works with the original stick of ram before you do anything if it works then you need to A) test the other stick in a different PC if it works - figure out how to get into your bios and up the vdimm a little. a 512 stick is drawing more then a 256 stick. dont be scared about this part, your motherboard doesn't allow you to give the RAM enough volts to fry it, you're not going to do any harm by giving it too much vdimm on your stock mobo. -if no boot still, loosen the dram timings in bios to 3-4-4-8 and try to boot. if no go, its not going to go. I think the biggy here to to verify this 512mb stick works before you do anything else. If your PC is prebuilt from a dell/compaq anything like that then your gonna have a hard time getting into bios. Please tell me this isn't the case ? Guest PDO August 17, 2004 Share Guest PDO Guests August 17, 2004 It won't even work with the original stick.. now I'm just really confused. I think I'm just going to drop it off at Best Buy and swallow the price :[.

Guest zerodamage August 18, 2004 Share Guest zerodamage Guests August 18, 2004 Unplug it. Then remove the battery and wait like.... 20-30 mins, depending on the mobo. Then put bat back in and turn it on. See if it posts then.
