strangefamous November 22, 2004 Share strangefamous Member November 22, 2004 (edited) To bad they can't implement the HL2 Engine. Doom 3 in my opinion was a bloated over greedy resource hog of an engine. I wasn't impressed with the graphics either 90% of my time was spent in the dark... spiralstairs November 22, 2004 Share spiralstairs Member November 22, 2004 the real question is: does anybody care? i bought doom 3 to test out my new computer, what a waste of 60 bucks. i played it for an hour and then uninstalled it.
Guest Banana Man December 27, 2004 Share Guest Banana Man Guests December 27, 2004 source can't render doom3 properly. there was a big project about this somewhere. source uses 2 passes to render textures, doom3 uses 5. they were building maps using the resources for each game (doom levels in hl2, hl2 levels in doom3), each game had it's problems. hl2 just couldn't render anything properly (it looked like it would just render the bump/normal maps) and doom3 had scaling problems where the maps were 100x bigger than the models (think rats for cs), but rendered everything completely. to sum it all up, crytek > all.
