Asphyxiator February 2, 2003 Share Asphyxiator Member February 2, 2003 Ive got a bit of a problem, my ethernet card is a 3com 3C595 i think, and when i boots up, it wants to default at 100mbit. I made my own cable and the card thinks that this 150ft cable can handle 100mbit, but it cant. I have to run 10 mbit. Unfortunately there is no way to force 10 mbit out of this card, it always autodetects in the "preparing network connections" portion of the boot process and runs at 100mbit and doesnt allow any packets through. But if i leave my ethernet unplugged until it is booted, it runs at 10mbit. What i need is to find some way to force 10mbit out of it so i dont have to reach back there everytime i boot. Ive checked all the device settings, i think the only way to fix the problem is to find the specification in the registry. Btw im running W2K, im close to swaping out and using a card i know that i can assign speeds with myself, or just go wireless.

Gond February 7, 2003 Share Gond Member February 7, 2003 Back in the day...well, DOS and Win95, you used to get disks with 3com cards that you could use to adjust card settings. Might be different these days.
