Password Recovery Program

i think pulling the CMOS battery for a few seconds does the trick. might need to pop the keyboard off, then look for the shiny silver battery (just smaller than a quarter). pry it out, leave it out for a 10 second count, then pop it back in.

Laptop BIOS passwords cannot be bypassed or reset by removing or shorting the CMOS battery.

what brand BIOS is it?

try - phoenix, PHOENIX, CMOS, BIOS

I've tried all of those. No luck.

That's why I'm down to looking for a program to crack it for me. I really don't want to contact HP on this. And jump thru their hoops to get this taken care of.

LAPTOP AND NOTEBOOK RECOVERY

Most laptop manufacturers have provided additional safeguards for their computers. We are not aware of any simple BIOS recovery program that works on laptops, nor are we aware of any simple backdoor passwords for these machines. BIOS passwords in most laptops are stored in a special chip on the motherboard and the only way to bypass this password is to replace this laptop security chip. Laptop BIOS passwords cannot be bypassed or reset by removing or shorting the CMOS battery. Further, doing this may cause other system errors and complicate the recovery or your system.

Thanks for your help SJ. Just wanted to let you know I figured it out.

I got lucky in the fact that the guy who owned this laptop before used the same password for his bios and his email. So now I'm able to access the bios. :boing:

na, I used Hiren's BootCD 7.9.

I removed the admin password on the gf's work laptop so I could make a proper ghost image of it. Now I have an image and she can do whatever she wants on there and I can just ghost it back (stupid company laptops)

That's a great link Flux. I just can't find where on his site to download that bootcd of his.

If you are familiar with Bittorrent you can download it using that.

Here is the search engine I used

If you are unfamiliar with Bittorrent, I can always just send you the iso (<70Meg)
