monthos July 12, 2006 Share monthos Member July 12, 2006 (edited) At first i thought it was my ISP, as they had previously had problems. But i took a traceroute and the problem is right at the server itself. 1 216.255.53.113 (216.255.53.113) 7.475 ms 7.382 ms 7.599 ms 2 209.173.160.97 (209.173.160.97) 24.320 ms cols-nova-gw.bright.net (209.143.1.205) 18.164 ms 16.491 ms 3 chi-edge-08.inet.qwest.net (63.149.72.101) 26.298 ms 27.668 ms 28.599 ms 4 chi-core-02.inet.qwest.net (205.171.20.113) 26.442 ms 30.805 ms 26.655 ms 5 cer-core-01.inet.qwest.net (67.14.8.14) 74.527 ms 26.713 ms 28.503 ms 6 cer-brdr-01.inet.qwest.net (205.171.139.58) 26.750 ms 37.945 ms 31.656 ms 7 qwest-gw.cgcil.ip.att.net (192.205.32.97) 27.816 ms 27.155 ms 27.714 ms 8 tbr1033301.cgcil.ip.att.net (12.123.4.242) 30.959 ms 40.355 ms 34.128 ms 9 gar1-p370.chail.ip.att.net (12.123.4.69) 33.146 ms 28.066 ms 35.800 ms 10 12.119.137.90 (12.119.137.90) 31.796 ms 38.345 ms 87.121 ms 11 216-86-154-200.chi.aim2game.com (216.86.154.200) 293.970 ms 293.473 ms 293.330 ms The lag is constant, not spiking at all. monthos July 12, 2006 Author Share monthos Member July 12, 2006 At work right now, but i logged into my router at home to check the traceroute. 30-50ms right now. Seems good, hopefully it will last so when i get home i can play. However the upside of it lagging for me, i have been meeting people in the west coast server Its pretty sad when a cleveland guy pings better to LA, than to a chicago server, especially when 90% of all my traffic goes through chicago anyways. Demoner July 12, 2006 Share Demoner Member July 12, 2006 i have a question for you monthos, do you also experience a drop in fps in addition to the lag?
monthos July 12, 2006 Author Share monthos Member July 12, 2006 No, no drop in frames. Just laggy. And for the record, i just got home, and the lag is there again, its the last router right before i reach the chicago servers, like like the traceroute i gave. I know the network that the server is on probably has many paths into it, but why am I the only one who seems to be affected? This is seriously bumming me out. monthos July 15, 2006 Author Share monthos Member July 15, 2006 (edited) Yeah, just refreshing this topic, and a request as well. am I the only ones getting this?!?!? traceroute to 216.86.154.200 (216.86.154.200), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets 1 216.255.53.113 (216.255.53.113) 29.211 ms 8.129 ms 7.258 ms 2 209.173.160.97 (209.173.160.97) 18.189 ms cols-nova-gw.bright.net (209.143.1.205) 21.085 ms nova-telco-gw3-cs-1.bright.net (216.201.63.145) 27.688 ms 3 chi-edge-08.inet.qwest.net (63.149.72.101) 27.291 ms 27.031 ms 26.595 ms 4 chi-core-02.inet.qwest.net (205.171.20.113) 26.872 ms 31.326 ms 26.967 ms 5 cer-core-01.inet.qwest.net (67.14.8.14) 30.838 ms 33.403 ms 27.109 ms 6 cer-brdr-01.inet.qwest.net (205.171.139.58) 39.380 ms 35.938 ms 33.847 ms 7 qwest-gw.cgcil.ip.att.net (192.205.32.97) 127.474 ms 27.752 ms 27.408 ms 8 tbr1033301.cgcil.ip.att.net (12.123.4.242) 31.185 ms 29.996 ms 31.155 ms 9 gar1-p370.chail.ip.att.net (12.123.4.69) 28.203 ms 34.427 ms 33.790 ms 10 12.119.137.90 (12.119.137.90) 34.785 ms 29.019 ms 27.755 ms 11 216-86-154-200.chi.aim2game.com (216.86.154.200) 214.204 ms 206.892 ms 204.713 ms besides for some small spiking along the route, and i have re-ran the traceroute many time getting the same results. it seems to be the last route to the server. yet im the only one? impossible. when i am in the server, i have a constant 200 ping when the lag starts. I am starting to get upset now. its been a week since it started. and there is no end in sight. If i played 1:00am-3:00pm I wouldnt notice the lag. But unfortunatly I have to play when convienent. I cannot see any signs that point to my setup. only server i found it affects is gc chicago servers, the traceroute shows its close to them, and yet im the only one getting it. Im going to go get drunk since i cant play, and everyone knows i only like to get drunk WHILE playing *edit* wierd error post contained the body of the message twice. monthos July 15, 2006 Author Share monthos Member July 15, 2006 (edited) Ok, so it acts up, i post then straightens up. I guess thats better than the past week of it being a constant evening thing. Yet i know if i join it will act up, becouse thats my luck. This is as bad as trying to deal with XO or ICG on t1 issues at work, i cannot loop an NIU, they see it, i look, and i see the NIU, but i take errors, they look, they see none. So then i spent hours convincing them to look harder If the GC admins dont mind, im going to make a script to traceroute the server every five minutes for maybe twelve hours, so i can track the times. monthos July 16, 2006 Author Share monthos Member July 16, 2006 pingplotter eh... ive never been into those fandy dancy graphical thingamabobbers. For what it is worth I also during my lag session logged into my Colocated server in cleveland, and ran a traceroute. Where as my laggy dsl went through att.net before getting to aim2game, my colocated box that didnt lag went through cogentco to pccwbtn.net, and didnt have any abnormalities. When i notice the lag again, i will post info from both of those box's on the new thread, as right now, im not lagging that much, so my data wont be usefull in finding the root problem.
