Allanon August 9, 2006 Share Allanon Member August 9, 2006 Anyone know any good free quality to customize your desktop like windowblinds? Or any way to download desktops without a program like that? Thanks, Allanon
bullet-401 August 9, 2006 Share bullet-401 Member August 9, 2006 (edited) assuming you have winxp sp2 then use this http://www.softpedia.com/get/Desktop-Enhan...SP2-Final.shtml use that pach and you can put themes in your C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes folder and go into desktop properties and choose what you want. Edit - http://personal.stevens.edu/~ascagnel/nw_uxtheme.zip this is better if it works.. the neowin auto install version Edited August 9, 2006 by bullet-

anonymo August 9, 2006 Share anonymo Member August 9, 2006 I don't have any links for you but I have advice...the novelty of those desktop customizers wear off once you realize how much resources they gobble...I can't say about the one bullet recomends but windowsblinds and stylexp hog resources like it was going out of fashion

bullet-401 August 10, 2006 Share bullet-401 Member August 10, 2006 (edited) the one that I recommended just "fixes" the dll file that stylexp and window blinds "masks" or whatever they do to put custom themes in. The one I use uses no resources. You can use anything from themexp.org or any theme files for that matter.. just put them in that directory. For themes I would recomend this one.. I love it! bullet-401 August 14, 2006 Share bullet-401 Member August 14, 2006 How to use this file: 1) Download the file and extract in a handy location (eg: your Desktop). This should create a new uxtheme.dll file in that location. 2) Go to C:WINDOWSSystem32 and rename uxtheme.dll to uxtheme.dll.old 3) Put the new uxtheme.dll into C:WINDOWSSystem32 4) If you get any warnings from Windows stating that an original system file has been replaced, you must click "Cancel", otherwise the new uxtheme.dll will be replaced with the original one. 5) Reboot
