tookey September 27, 2007 Share tookey Member September 27, 2007 This probably doesn't apply to me much anymore, but the source server is in pretty desperate need of a restart. Standing still and shooting someone in the face doesnt hit them, and I get almost a constant choke of 30. Mags told me to post up, so here it is. stutters September 27, 2007 Share stutters GC Alumni September 27, 2007 thanks, server restarted. lol @ nfo Don: Helllooooo. This is the 2nd day of server-wide client choke. Are there any known problems? If not, could we request a hardware server restart tonight? Machine uptime: 40 days, 11 hours, 7 minutes, 34 seconds. You are now speaking with Siren of Support. Siren: hi Siren: choke isnt caused by the machine Don: Don: yeah, so we've heard. Don: Anyrate, it's global, not just a single client. Siren: choke is when the server is sending more info than the client can recieve Don: Instead of debating choke, could just let me know if there's any known issues, and if not, just schedule a restart. Siren: ah, its likely your tick then Siren: lets have a look Don: it's bigger than recommended for the tickrate, but these particular problems are during non-peak uses. Don: in other words, only 12-16 clients out of 26 public slots. Siren: and everyone has their rates set to 101/101 Siren: that can sure do it in a pub Siren: how much choke exactly? Don: ok, let's back up a second. Don: are there any known problems in chicago? Siren: no Don: ok, can we schedule a server reboot for tonight? Don: (or early am) Siren: no, server machines are different from your average home PC, they dont need restarts to maintain stability Siren: however i can restart your server in the morning Don: i'd appreciate it. in the future i'll just ask john directly. Don: thanks, and have a nice day. i didn't realize nfo hired m2.

mookie September 30, 2007 Share mookie GC Alumni September 30, 2007 You should be able to reset your server through FTP. They are talking about getting the machine rebooted; not sure why. Server can be restarted easily with RCON.
akaM2 September 30, 2007 Share akaM2 Member September 30, 2007 i didn't realize nfo hired m2. ummm yes servers dont need to be restarted as often, but it helps. We restart our servers every saturday morning (yes im talking about the dedicated servers, not the game servers)
