Butters February 17, 2008 Share Butters Member February 17, 2008 So when i started steam earlier, it did an update. Now I cannot seem to load anything that uses the source engine. It makes it almost to the point where I would see the options on the main menu, and crashes. A dialog box opens that says "Platform Error: module failed to initialize." I tried deleting and re-installing CS:S with no success. Has anyone else come across this?

anonymo February 17, 2008 Share anonymo Member February 17, 2008 It was doing this to me as well after the new update. Make sure that you have fully updated Windows XP (if that's what you're using) as there was a big update last week (SP3?, I haven't been keeping track) which is what seemed to have solve my problem. I was getting that error as well, getting into Source to the point where you're about to see the main menu then it crashes...I also reinstalled (repaired) Steam with the latest installer from their website (not sure if that makes any difference).
