.gif not animated unless using IE or firefox

I'm not sure why it hasn't come up before, I noticed it about a year ago, but I used to animate my wallpaper to be silly, from time to time. I just tried to do it and the wallpaper doesn't animate. I've tried with a few different images and it doesn't work in the windows folders either.

 

I have everything set for best appearance in windows so I'm not sure how to fix this. Anyone have a suggestion?

From a little bit of research it appears that MS took out the ability to animate .gifs as your wallpaper.

As far as I can tell it seems MS removed the active desktop and replaced it with the DreamScene tools in Vista.

 

I probably just saved your family from having to see some silly Santa Claus gif in the background throughout the holidays.

Oh well it doesn't come up much anyway as it would be very distracting lol. And it wasn't for santa lol
