ilovetomatoes July 18, 2010 Share ilovetomatoes Member July 18, 2010 Hey all. I am flying out to Vegas tomorrow, and I want to watch some movies on my netbook on the plane. I don't want to have to bring my external dvd drive, and the power eusage it requires. I want to copy a couple DVDs to my hard drive to watch on the plane, but there are like 1000 apps out there to complete this task. Any suggestions of free apps that would be able to do this? Leveller July 19, 2010 Share Leveller Member July 19, 2010 DVD Decrypter. +1 It produces a perfect ISO image (which you'll need to mount if that's the only option, Daemon tools lite is free and works like a charm) that I've been using to slowly copy all my English DVDs over to a US format... Since I've been taking that approach (in combination with Cucusoft's DVD + Video converter), I have no idea off the top of my head if it'll do a copy to AVI, WMV, MPEG 4 etc... As a quick + I've found if I just want to rip a DVD for playback on iPod, Zune etc. Cucusoft's tools do a great cut down to about 600-700MB on most DVDs in the format you need. ZeroDamage July 19, 2010 Share ZeroDamage Member July 19, 2010 Better than that is Handbrake. Has pre-built presets depending on the quality that you want. I use it all the time. It is a great app. It can do the optional subtitles to. I did that last November so others on the plane next to me could read what was going on without actually hearing it. http://handbrake.fr/
ZesteR July 19, 2010 Share ZesteR Member July 19, 2010 I've used http://www.formatoz.com/ for all sorts of formatting conversions. Format Factory is the software.
