lookin for a laptop

Since my gaming rig is down at the moment, and I've always kinda wanted a laptop now is a good time to get it.

I've looked around on newegg, tiger direct, and a few others and found some decent deals. Looking for 300-400 dollar range, willing to go a little more if its worth it but not much.

Mainly need it for web browsing, netflix, and some gaming.Since you guys are smarter than me figured you could give me some pointers. Never bought a laptop before so kind of a new area for me. Thanks.

Plenty of options everywhere for that price range minus gaming.

5VDPHPVP0WXL31 at Dell Outlet will eat 20% off (and if you posted earlier it could have been 40% off...)

http://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBOnlineSales/Online/InventorySearch.aspx?brandId=2201&c=us&cs=22&l=en&s=dfh

One year warranty and stuff from the outlet has always looked brand new.

For gaming on laptops there has to be a *decent* dedicated video cpu onboard. It will often add at least $100 to the cost; usually much more.

Others will chime in soon on this I'm sure.

Well i'm not looking to play Deux ex:HR or anything newer. If its not in my price range I'll just settle for a laptop that can at least run minecraft.

So let me ask it this way, what is the price range for a laptop that could run cs:s or equivalent?

For $500 here is a good one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215120

For $430 here is an ok one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834146808

both are new and should play most non-intensive games like CS:S, WoW etc

If you don't mind refurb/used here is one: http://www.gearxs.com/gearxs/product_info.php?products_id=15781

It will play most of the old games and CS:S on low settings. Plus it is more portable being a 14".

Doing a little bit of research off what you guys have said posted I'm pretty sure I'm gonna spend about 500 dollars to get a decent laptop that can run most source engine games. Intel hd graphics 3000 seems to be the best integrated graphics for the price range , but hate to get integrated graphics.

That first link preacher posted seems to be one of the better deals in the price range. I am gonna try and stay away from refurbished as I have had some bad luck in the past with refurbished items, and the last thing I want is to deal with more RMAs right now.

My plan is to use this as a backup computer/mobile computing when not at the house. I'm the one everyone in my family calls if they have computer issues, so being able to have a mobile computer to check stuff on would be a perk. Also would be nice to play some cs:s when I'm at someones house and have nothing else to do. It kinda needs to be good enough to not have to upgrade for at least 2 years.

Do you guys think I would be better off going with that first computer preacher posted http://www.newegg.co...N82E16834215120 or add an extra $50-75 dollars and get something slightly better? I was looking around in this area http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=32&name=Laptops-Notebooks&Order=PRICE&Page=4

Again, this is not for hard core gaming. I have a desktop for that, but the desktop is down atm so I need a backup where I can still play most older games and maybe some sc2 or something. I have no issues having to play a game on the lowest settings as long as the fps are playable.

Thanks

That's another option. Slightly better specs on the video

Both are more or less a push though.

17.3" screen, AMD Phenom II Quad-Core N970(2.2GHz), AMD Mobility Video with 8031 for 3DMark05

or

15.6" screen, Intel i3 2310M(2.10GHz), Nvidia GT520M Video with 9085 for 3DMark05

Went ahead and go the $500 Acer Aspire, benchmarks showed Nvidia GT520M was slightly faster but actually in-game fps favored the AMD Radeon HD 6470M ever so slightly. Don't think it would mater much either way, so figured I'd save myself a few bucks.

Thanks for the help guys, hope by Tuesday(wed) I'll get it in and start removing the bloatware.
