Question... diablo 3

If I am progressing in my own game, but then sometimes want to jump in and play with other people, does it erase all my progress/loot/experience if I go backwards into someone else's game? It asked me if I wanted to erase my save or something and that freaked me out.

 

Would be cool to be able to jump around and gain xp/loot without having to get through the game too fast....wish there was more of an open world feel to the game.

No, you retain all your stuff (exp, items, gold, etc), but your progress in the story will be erased...but I thought this was only if you were to click on the "Change Quest" button or whatever it was called.

Yeah, pretty sure this is it.

 

Your overall progress is recorded (norm, night, etc..; act 1, 2, 3. etc..., whatever within whatever act as well)

 

So, you are progressing in Act 2 wherever, then jump into someone's game in Act 1. The game will just say fine, if that's where you want to be so be it. And you go on from there.

 

Want to get back to your progress? Hit the choose quest bit and choose the nearest where you left off (in a new/different game of course)

 

This confused me as well; thought I lost progress at first then I went "Oh yeah..."

So if I am in Act 2, or further along in that whomever I want to play with, I can join them via the friends dealio and my progress and stuff is all good?

Yep, pretty sure.

You can always get back to the quest you wer eon if you go back to play with other people. It wont erase how far you've gotten or what difficulty you've gotten to.
