.cda to ?

Now I need some audio editing software. Any suggestions?

For example, there's a song I have on CD that I wanted to use as the menu background music for a family Christmas dvd...but my prog didn't recognzie .cda extensions.

So, for the future, I'd like to have a converter and perhaps an editor to splice, etc.

Suggestions?

Fatty, .cda is just the cd shortcut extension for the .wav file of the audio track on your CD. I would use CDex (awesome and free) to rip the CD (or just the track) to a .wav or .mp3 file and then use something like Cool Edit (which Adobe just bought) if you want just a portion of the track.
