  1. I'm without a computer, which is a hard thing for me, since the computer's been my best friend for many years now. I have a wife who's taken it's place, but I still want the computer for when she's at work or asleep. And I miss banning people. So, anyone have any thoughts or recommendations on a good, inexpensive machine? I bought my last one from www.cyberpowerpc.com and my best friend also got one from there, they're Alienware wannabe's but they do build a pretty decent machine at a good price. I'm looking for one in the $800 range, monitor not included. I have an Altec Lansing system already, so speakers are not needed. The main help I need deals with what hardware to get as far as motherboards, graphics cards, and speed. My last system was an AMD 1 Ghz, with a GeForce2 GTS 64mg card. I'm looking at AMD AthalonXP 2800 or somewhere around there. Any thoughts on Intel systems? The GeForce FX cards look good, what about the Radeon 97/9800 cards? Also, I plan on getting an Asus nForce2 motherboard, unless you all have another suggestion. Any help is appreciated, hell, go ahead and configure a system for me.
  2. just read all this, don't sweat it man. time, and getting older clears up a lot of problems. all my life pretty much, i was a loner. as a kid my only friend was my younger brother. i stayed inside and played with LEGOs or read books. i'm the only kid i know who read an 800 page version of Robinson Curusoe (sp???) when he was in 5th grade. Loved it too. In high school I had a couple friends, but not till my senior year did I really feel accepted by them. They were 3 guys, I still consider them brothers now. After dropping out of college in my second semester I just became a bum. I was living with two of my "brothers" at thier parent's house, and the three of us, along with the other guy, you guys know him as [Mmmm]Nitemare, pretty much just worked, slept and played CS. We were having a great time. But eventually, I met a woman. The first woman I ever really "went out" with. I figured, hell, she says she loves me, never known another woman who did, I love her, why not get married. So we did. I look back on the way I was living, great friends with 4 guys, but still feeling lonely, and now the way I'm living, with a wife who perfectly completes me. Never would have thought I'd be married at 20, much less married to a woman who loves me so much. Just the way God chooses to work. His time is not our time. He knows what he's doing and when he's going to do it. And as the Bible says, "God works all things together for the good of those who love him."
  3. Wow....one of the more serious things we've had to deal with as a community. Really makes you realize that everyone's petty squabbles about 3rd party maps, and bad attitudes are pointless and dumb. I knew Bob about as well as anyone here, I guess. He helped me back when I was trying to run BlackOps, I drank a beer with him sitting outside at the LAN party last year. Just a few days ago I was asking Linch if BobLee was still around. He said "yeah, he doesn't play much though." I just turned on the computer to play a half hour of CS before going to the fiance's dad's house for dinner...Gunman sent me here, I'm not going to play CS today. Thanks for the pics Fatty, and that intro was great. Brings back memories of what were very possibly happier times. Rest In Peace Bob_Lee can we get some kind of tribute picture on the main page?
  4. acutally, he picked up a bull whip and as he went through swinging the whip and overturning tables shouting at them to get out, they obeyed, as fast as their legs would carry them. being good won't get you into heaven. God is 100% good. The Bible says he can't even look at sin (anything not good). If God can't even look at something slightly impure, how do we expect to get into heaven by "doing our best." We're not going to meet Peter at the front desk and negotiate with him. "eh, so I screwed up a couple times, but on the whole I was a decent guy, right, right!" Not gonna cut it. The ONLY way to an eternal life not consisting of the most horrible aloneness and pain and sorrow you can imagine (x 258000) is to accept that Christ's sacrifice on the cross payed your insurmountable debt, that his conquering death is the key to your eternal salvation, and then live in that reality.
  5. the amx command to force a player to the other team does not always work. we're not totally sure why, but it doesn't. and moss, lol, you need 45 to get the kill streak.

  14. Any of you download ripped copies of software? Warez, as it's called. Apps, games, pirated stuff. I've found that Morpheus, or Limewire (what i use now) works great for downloading pirated stuff, but I also know a few websites that, after much searching, will get me some quality stuff. You all have any favorite places to get copies of software? ****for informational purposes only****
  15. Long ago, several versions of CS ago, a small team began work on another Half Life mod. It was called The Opera. I played several versions of it, all of them entertaining, the newest was quite good, by mod standards. The team is still around and are working on The Opera R2 (release 2). The concept is the same as the original release, but they've moved from using Half Life's engine to doing the mod for Unreal Tournament 2003. They pushed the Half Life engine for all it was worth (the only mod I know of where the characters had trench coats that flapped around when they dove and rolled) and found it lacking. I saw in the foreign movie thread that some of you like Jon Woo style stuff, well this mod's goal is to re-create those movies in a game. I don't know how many servers are still out there for release one, but it's definatly worth your time to download and try. http://opera.redeemedsoft.com/index.php
  16. my music folder tells me i have 748 meg worth of songs. before i reformatted i had 15.1 gig worth of songs. i believe it was 3800-some songs. Styles range from classical - jazz, rap, some country, oldies, big band, metal, rarely some crap produced after 1998, and the list (like the beat) goes on. CD's i have over 350, only about 20 of which are burned mp3 discs.

  18. you're right about that playaa, I almost got into paintball, and that gun is making me think about startin...lol. imagine a team decked out in camo carrying 6 or 7 of those bad boys.
  19. roger roger. Christ rising from the dead defeated sin and death, through him, we can share that power that defeated sin and death and gain entrance into eternal life in heaven, as opposed to eternal death in hell. There's nothing we can do to gain it, and none of us deserve it, yet God created us and bestowed so much love on us, that he wants all his creation to live with him forever. Not all of us will respond to that call. God didn't create robots, we have some element of free will, and can reject God and try in vain to make our own way. In this world, it may bring fun, however an excrusiating eternity is the reward.
  20. he's banned. sorry all killer, i didn't see the whole conversation on rcon. thought i did, but i just caught the end of it i guess. he's been annoying me for days, but i wasn't going to ban him just because he annoyed me, however i got good enough reason between the episode with all killer and xtc and later in the day when he was bypassing the filter and bein a donkey's rear. CampKillYourself told him to knock off the language and he asked who was going to make him stop. I politely tsay'd that I would and banned him. he says he's got 8 wonid's, ....guess we keep banning him till he's out of id's.....
  21. Found this internet radio station awhile ago, listen to/watch it fairly often. It's great, they play about every type of music there is, from David Bowie to Nickleback to Coldplay to Limp Bizkit to Avril Lavinge to the local Aussie talent, to blues artists and much more. All the music is accompanied by video, often the music video, however also a lot of live in-studio stuff or video from the live shows at the Basement Club. Also occasionally they'll just have video of the dj's sitting at their desk, when there's no accompanying video for the song. The website has a shop with various albums and dvds and apparel availbile. One of the best parts is that it's an Australian station, so lots of the artists and all the dj's have Aussie accents. Fun to listen to. The Basement
