Admin is sort of built in as it wil auto kick players that tk to much and other rules that can be set. . Yes, run punkbuster though I think we are sitting on a big patch coming out soon. Won't be able to get back on till back from weekend plans. Till Monday..

Well...server is silky smooth with good pings. We had 4 on for around 30 minutes or so I would say. Voodoo, Fish, Whudat, and myself. Problem was the map size with only the 4 of us. Fatty, server setup is all fairly simple as I set one up on my works LAN. All commands are done through the black and white console (assuming you setup rcon for yourself) with the exception of setting up the original profile. That includes server name, intro welcome, and others basics. There should have been a text file to refer to. Thanks for the trial, I only wish there were more players and/or smaller maps. It MAY catch on though!! Voodo can fly a pretty mean helo I must say. When I found there were amphibios (sp.) vehicles I was surprised as well.

Setting up the server for the demo may be a pretty good idea. That way more GC members can try the game if they do not already own the retail version. It may give a better gauge as to what interest there is around the community. Problem is I already uninstalled the demo....and I am at work. I will glady hop onto the server later tonight if it is still up.

I agree, the demo is something you should try before getting the game retail. It gives a really good feel for what gameplay is like. I have been having a blast playing this for almost a week now. There are some pro/cons I have run into. Cons: People not forgiving accidental tk's. Being punished for others mistakes can get frustrating. For instance - placing mines around the entrance to a flag when you know enemies are on the way in. Nubguy on my team hops into a jeep and then blows himself up on my mines - even though the mines are clearly marked and I have given my team warning. Arrrrghhh. I get punished for his mistake... Ranked servers. To gain rank ingame and to unlock weapons requires you to play on ranked servers. These servers are not only laggy (for the most part) but if you find a good one it is next to impossible to get into. This makes finding a good server to play on a hassle. It requires a good 10 minutes of looking and then loading the map. (load times are also lenghty) The game browser is AWFUL. Patches will be realeased to fix this ASAP. It also requires a decent rig to play smoothly on. Geforce 4 cards are not supported. I can play decently on a P4E 2.8 with a 6600GT(AGP). 1024x768 at mostly medium details. FPS can dip into 30's when in a big firefight. Pros: When you get into a squad and everything is clicking it is just fantastic gameplay. Medics reviving/healing infantry, repairs being made, ammo being dropped, artillary barrages into key map points. There is not a game I can think of that requires so much teamwork between squads and commander alike. The best time I have had was on a British server and EVERYONE was working together. Though it was hard to understand them at times with some having such thick English accents. Was WAY fun!! I think the community that will evolve around BF2 will be something to see. Mods will come out and new maps made. Ladders will be born and leagues will thrive. Should be fun to see.

Yes...the card looks AWESOME! The benchmarks were impressive as well. I just don't ever see myself shelling out $600 for a GPU. You must be insane to double that and go for SLI. Sheeesh...If only I were a rich man.

Well after calling all the gamestops here in the Dayton area yesterday, I had to wait out another night. I was finally able to pickup my pre-ordered copy today around noon. Still sitting here at work is torment as I have my copy staring at me on top of my CRT. Oh well...not too much longer now... Soooooo...who has it? have you found any servers where teamwork is really clicking? I found a few for the demo that were good. I would love to get together with anyone interested and create a squad. I would imagine it could make for some good gameplay as the GC servers for CSS always has some pretty good coordination. Man....I haven't even played CS since 6/10. I feel like I am missing something...like I forgot my wallet. 1 hour left till I am outta here and fraging away!!! Hope to see some of you around!

Congrats on the cert man! Always does look good on the ol' resume. I would say go for the Network+ before diving in the world of Cisco. It also stands out on a resume and will help that much more when going into a job interview. Network+ will say to them I not only now hot to troubleshoot an ancient box but I can throw it on an ancient network as well. I hold both A+ and Net+ and have worked for a local ISP for going on 3 years. Experience will go further than the certs can - but having both is a great start. Now if I can oly get my slacker of an admin tech me the basics of FreeBSD and Juniper routers I could move up. I guess that job security is partly not teaching others what you already know. I WILL be going into some Cisco classes here very shortly as well. Congrats!

I am most definately still coming. I plan on getting payment in around the middle of this week as got our tax refunds. Can't say for sure but I spoke with Chewy on Friday and he said to make sure and let him know when I do pay so we can get seats by each other. COUNT ME IN!!!

Out of curiousity, is this to look into the issue people were having with choke? I noticed that after a reboot last night it didn't help a whole lot When pinging the IP I was not dumping any packets at all - through both a shell account and regular DOS prompt. I was kinda bummed to have to return back to a NYC server.

I would also suggest having your friend download an app called Netstumbler. This is generally used by wardrivers to find networks that have the SSID broadcast turned off and figure out what security the network is running. Safe program and is also very useful for figuring out if neighbors are running on the same channel as you. Try another channel if you find another AP on the same. And yes...logging into the router is a must if you want any form of security setup. This is also where you can swap channels as well. Have him read up in the manual first. Sometimes this is a .pdf that can be found on the install CD.

I have used the Plantronic DSP 500's for about 2.5 years. They sound awesome and the mic on them is great. They died a little over a year and a RMA returned another pair within a week or so. They have their own digital signal processer and plug in via USB. You can get an OEM pair from Newegg that has the CS logo on them for about $15 cheaper than retail. CPL and Plantronics provided these heasets to players around a year ago at the Dallas Summer event. The retail set is a little more but all in all these are GREAT!!
