  1. k, i'm struggling. I've got teh demo in my account here on the forums. How do I link it so you can see it? It told me that i couldn't upload a .dem file, so I added .txt to it, which you will need to delete to play. let me know how to link and i'll get it to whomever. SS
  2. Hmmmm... I though I had posted teh demo file last night... I'll pm it.
  3. managed to get a short demo before he split. After the first respawn, he runs around with knife out, and he is all jittery. After second respawn, you will see he runs up and HS a guy. He reconnected after going 10-1 with all Headshots. Plus that jittery screen. I'll let y'all judge. SS

  5. So... most of you know me as Shropshire Slasher. Some of you may even know the history of this name... (Daffy Duck cartoon). Well for years I enjoyed the benefits of using an obscure cartoon reference for my screen name. Google searches turned up nothing on the subject, and only hinted at the actually cartoon. Well, in the past 6 months or so, some others ( interlopers... userpers... ) have attempted to coopt my good name for their own. First there was a poster on AICN who reviewed a movie using my name. Now... I find this: http://people.tribe.net/shropshireslasher (warning... inappropriate content). Sigh. Rest assured, that... THAT... is NOT me. Now is the time, people. It is time to RISE UP, and take back the night, erm, or at least my name. To WAR!
  6. I have an SD DVR in the bedroom, but only a Samsung HD Receiver in the Living Room. Don't quite get the "who's" in regard to the interface. TiVo handles the scheduling of the recording for Season Passes and such, but the program guide comes off the Dave Satellite.
  7. Heh... In shadowdog's defense, I didn't take that he was being antagonistic with his post. I didn't quite get the gist of all of it, but I think it was meant in a friendly spirit. Reread it with that in mind and see if it sounds differently. SS
  8. I've been very happy with DirectTV, or Dave as they say. My only complaint has been the slow roll out of local HD over sat. But, then again, this is as much the FCC's fault (and local broadcasters) as it is any sat companies. Plus, DTV now has a Titanium package. For like 7500 bucks a year, you get everything. All channels, pay-per-view... everything. just too much money, in my opinion.
  9. heh. You'd have to limit the menu to things I can cook without putting my beer down.
  10. Heh... quite manly of me, huh. Just an avid fan of the culinary arts. At various points as a kid I considered becoming a professional. Perhaps it was fate or just growing up in the elitist '80s where service professions were disdained if you were a "college prep" student. As a result I ended up as a physicist, which it turns out isn't as disconnected from cooking as it might at first appear. I'm kinda gland in the end, though... cuz I can't think of a better way to make cooking not fun for me than turning it into my job. I've seen professional kitchens first hand... and it isn't a glamorous life for the average chef. long, hot, stressful hours. Plus a successful restaurant is really just in a pre-failure condition. Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
  11. But of course! 12+ hours in salt/brownsugar/vegetable stock. And NO deepfrying. Not that deep fried turkeys are bod. Actually, Ive had some that are quite tasty. BUT... it isn't Thanksgiving if you can't watch the first football game with the smell of a roasting turkey driving you insane, then watch the second game with a tremendous turkey hangover forcing you into a deep, deep coma. Ah... thanksgiving. King of Holidays.
  12. Well, we ordered one through the Toys R Us website (huh... where is my backwards 'R' key?). It's an action bundle with 5 games. I'll let you know if it rolls in. Kru... how's Zelda on your first impression. I'm ( and my 7 year too) a big fan of those. Also Kru... and anyone else in possession of a Wii Our bundle comes with a 512 memory card, a controller, and supposedly a nunchuk controller. From what you are experiencing, what additional accessories should we consider now? I want to get some classic controllers for our GC games for the kids... can the thing run 4 of these? Also, can the system accept input from multiple remote/nunchuk controllers? Are there games that this would be useful for? SS All the console bundles are done pretty much online. In stores they usually don't do it that way. We just bought the system and Zelda, and we have no memory card for it. The Wii has two panels on top for 4 Gamecube controllers and two memory cards. It has a sensor bar for the controller that plugs into the back of the system and you can move around where you want. Is the Wii backward compatible with GC controllers? or did you mean the "classic" controller they are offering for Wii... Know nothing about the controller you're talking about, but Gamecube controllers work with it. Would need them to play gamcube games anyway, I would think. The power button on the Wii controller is another cool little thing. http://www.nintendo.com/wiilarge?gallery=a...amp;currentNo=2

  15. Well... no dice. All the places i went had handed out tickets to the people who had been in line for 30 hours. oh well. I'll just wait a couple of months until they have truckloads sitting in the warehouse...
  16. I'm on my way over to a local store at midnight (or a little before actually) to try my luck at getting one. I'll let you know how it goes.
  17. Or... make stock. So, If you want a window into what make me tick... I made a large batch of brown turkey stock tonight. And I consider that a great time. I'm having Thanksgiving at my house this year for about 20 people. I needed to have some stock on hand for gravy/etc. So I was at the local grocery store and they had frozen/cut turkey wings in the meat case. I picked up 12 or so pounds and roasted them for 2 hours with onions/carrots/celery/leeks. Then i moved them to a stock pot and deglazed the baking dishes with water. I moved the deglazing liquid to the pot with bay leaves, peppercorns, parsley stalks and thyme. I simmered it low and slow for 6 hours. Now I have about 2 gallons of beautiful, gelatinous, savory turkey stock. Ahhhh... simple pleasures.
  18. need a ban on the guy below. 19. Well... I'm back in Mich. Had a great time at the Lodge. Thanks for the advice shep. Nice to have friends in the right places. BTW, we tried to hit Marconi's for lunch today on our way out of town. Turns out, they open at 3:00. Oops. our bad. anyways... maybe next time i'm down that way we can meet up for some dinner or something. Cheers.
  20. lol... sounds good. dunno if the wife will sanction a 60min round trip for take out though.
  21. LOL. BTW, I HAD the e.coli from the spinach. I was eating Earthbound Farms Mixed Baby Greens (organic). It comes in a flat tub. I bought it on like Tuesday and ate it until the day of the e.coli announcement. I'm like... crap. Well from Friday of that week until Saturday the following week, I was the lucky recipient of a bout of ... well... "unscheduled forcible bowel evacuations." It was rather mild, all things considered. So long as I didn't stray further from a bathroom than my cheeks could clench. Heh.... never got that from a Big Mac.
  22. Good call. We ate here tonight. Very tasty. Now... what about chinese? CEM
  23. Thanks for the recommendations Shep. Ah Cedar Point. Haven't been in years. My parents took us every year growing up, so think late 70-s early 80-s. Went once right after college. The new coaster that year was the dinosaur one where your feet hang down. Been a while. In a couple years, when the kids get older, definitely taking them to the Point. And yes Fatty... the Happy Friar (?) as i seem to recall it was the place for fries with vinegar. Thanks again... and if anyone has more recommendations... happy to hear them. Oh... one more thing... is there a good "local" pizza place near the lodge? Something non-chain that makes a good pie? CEM
