I have every intention right now to skip Vista. I'm a systems engineer who works primarily with Windows 2k/2k3 adv, redhat and ubuntu, but I cannot bring myself to buy an operating system that will control my system against my wishes. Among them are some serious functionality degredations and I highly recommend folks pay very close to the next 3 to 6 months on what Microsoft attempts to do. Repeat after me. "The Sims 2 is your friend, The Sims 2 is your friend." Trust me. Nothing beats a virtual doll-house when you want to play CS:S (or anything else for that matter!) I bought my nearly-almost-fiance it just a few days ago (she loved the original title) and it is SOOOOOOOO detailed that she's spent nearly 12 hours in 2 days just building her dolls... Honestly though, she knows that while I play hockey and go out drinking with her and our friends every week, deep down I'm a PC gamer and she's accepted that geeky part of me. Hi all! I am looking to replace my 5' long by 2 ' wide desk. Currently, all I have usable is the surface, to either side of the chair space are drawers and it is enclosed at the feet (so I can't run cables under the surface from front to back). I have the following needs and was hoping someone knew of any options or places I can look: - Similar surface space. - No L or U shaped options. - Open back. - Floor space for 4 computers (or shelves with open sides just off the floor). - No keyboard drawer/shelf thing. Basically, my setup includes: 1 cable modem 1 Cisco Cat 2908 ISA 2k4 FW system (computer 1) main system for gaming (computer 2) file server/media server (computer 3) virtualization/lab server (computer 4) 3 flatscreens (1x 19", 1x17", 1x15") 1 laptop (Dell Precision something, work supplied) 2 UPS units (APC) I'd like the 3 screens, 2 keyboards (the ISA system is remote accessed), and the laptop on the desk surface. I'd like the computers and UPS on the floor or on near-floor mounted shelves and I'd like the network devices to sit on an overhead mounted shelf (if possible). Tall order, I know, but I'm at a loss of where to start looking for this. Thanks! -dj
