  1. COMMENTS BELOW POSSIBLE SPOILERS - I thought the special affects belonged in a 1980 movie. Besides Kong himself, the T-rex and the outside of the island they were horrible. The blue screens were ridiculous (the dinosaurs, bugs, vine swinging as just a few examples). The long beginning, middle and end were WAY too long. At an hour they had still not gotten to the island and I was already wanting to leave. Then on the island it took 1.5 hours and then another 30ish minutes after that. The movie could have been 90 minutes and MAY have been better. Also - I just could not buy into the ape/girl love story. I just wanted someone to kill Kong, Skin him and cook him up for dinner....anything to end the movie.
  2. According to the specs your board is USB 2.0. Probably want to go DL the latest USB drivers. My system said the same thing when I first plugged it in so I installed the latest USB drivers and never saw it again.
  3. The main problem with Stern was the 15-minute commercial segments. Well at least they seemed 15-mins long. I am glad he is goin off the public airwaves though - he thinks too much of himself.
  4. hehe - Thanks Chan - I editted it.
  5. Well we went to see this last night. After Jackson's previous works I was excited to see how this would turn out. I was incredibly disappointed. The movie is 3 HOURS long. It could easily have been 1.5 hours and still been a bad movie though. Three hours just makes double-sure it is a bad movie. There are numerous "blue screen" shots that just look incredibly fake. It is apparent they tried to make it look good, but failed miserably. The acting is good for the most part, the story-line is already known from the original but they decided to increase it a bit this time and make sure you know about the love triangle. The worst thing is that there was nothing to make you want to be "involved" in the movie. It was SO incredibly slow and such a painful grind. I actually grabbed my coat and wanted to leave but my buddy wanted to finish it, he though it would improve - he was wrong. The theatre we visited had about 120 people - throughout the movie I watched 8-10 people get up and leave....I wish I had been one of them. I just checked some review pages and this movie is getting an A from critics on average. I just am not sure why. Bad special effects through parts - incredibly slow - parts completely unrealistic - on and on I can go. We gave it a 50/100.

  7. I really would like the Vid card. Checking with wife this weekend, will let you know in the next couple days.
  8. Wow - This was an excellent movie. We took our 5 & 7 year old kids and they both loved it as well. It is very well done outside of two very obvious "blue screen" moments. CS Lewis would be very proud of how this was adapted to the big screen. We gave it a 90/100
  9. Seeing it tomorrow morning. I setup a deal at the local theatre for our church and we are seeing that instead of Sunday service and offering it to all friends and family for free. Looking forward to this a lot!
  10. I assume the Vid card is AGP - How much for just the vid card?
  11. Got mine earlier this week. Thanks. I messed up and thought the Mic's were for PC haha. They are stage mics. I donated them to our church band and they were quite happy.
  12. Thanks guys. I tried something new. I Remote in the the Terminal server above (Win 2000) and from there I RDP to the Domain controller (2003 Server). From this machine the internet is fast. I checked the DNS forwarding and it has the correct DNS for the Internet company. I was able to browse quickly and efficiently. When I go to the Win 2000 machine, it is slow browsing. I checked DNS forwarding and there were no entries. I added in the 2003 IP as well as the DNS numbers and it seems to work faster. The only problem now seems to be no FTP is allowed so I am trying to track that down.
  13. yea - MB, CPE, Memory, Monitor showed up today - I LOVE my 19" LCD.
  14. Thanks Fox - Could you explain the last sentence a bit better? I am not quite sure what those are
  15. I use Ulead's Video Studio for things like this. You can also create a menu screen for each video this way.
  16. The issue with the DNS is that it takes FOREVER to resolve names. You type in www.yahoo.com and it takes 30-60 seconds to resolve the name, let alone load - half the time it times-out. The Sat company has tested it several times and everything is fast plugging directly to the port - just the router/server is bottle-necking it somewhere. Thanks Mookie - reading it now.
  17. Ok all - let's see if anyone knows anything about this please: Satellite Broadband connection enters building - Runs to a Cisco 1721 router Router connects to a Netgear FS308 10/100 switch All PC's connect to the switch. In the network there is a Domain controller (2003 Server)with IP 192.168.1.3 There is a Terminal Services Server (Win 200) with IP 192.168.1.2 There are 4 local PCs(XP) that connect to the Domain in the local office The Domain Server (CAPC) has an IP of 192.168.1.3, gateway of 192.168.1.1 and a DNS of 192.168.1.3. The local machines and the Terminal Server have the same gateways and DNS. QUESTION 1 - Shouldn't CAPC have the actual DNS addresses listed instead of its own IP? Also - No one knows who installed the Cisco Router or the passwords or the configurations. I can connect to it via Hyperterminal but when I use "enable" it wants the user/pass and I have no clue on the password. We have checked with the local office, the Internet company and the server company and no one knows anything about the router - yet it is integral to the setup. QUESTION 2 - Does anyone know if there is a generic Admin logon for Cisco 1700's and what it is? Thanks much if anyone knows this.
  18. I musta gotten the last one - It shipped this morning.
  19. That is not dual-channel memory though right? It does not say it is at least. Wayfarer - what makes it a better monitor? Just curious.
  20. Here is what I am looking at right now: 1 - Seagate Barracuda 80GB SATA - $57.50 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822148040 1 - Corsair 1GB PC3200 RAM - $91.25 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820145505 1 - Athlon 64 3700+ Clawhammer 800Mhz FSB - $205.00 http://www.newegg.com/product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103461 1 - EPoX Nforce3 MB - Free with above CPU http://www.newegg.com/product/Product.asp?...N82E16813123225 1 - 19"LCD Monitor - $239.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16824160147 Will this be a decent setup? Sorry for all the questions - I used to be good at this stuff but as it changes I became a noob again.
  21. Is it better to go with a 1GB stick of RAM or 2x512? Looking at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820145505 Also - Let's say you had $500-600 - what would be the recommendations for: MB CPU RAM (1gb min) SATA Hard Drive
  22. yea - just reinstalled XP yesterday after formatting and pulled the latest version from ATI. Reading the WoW tech forums they state that there is sometimes a problem with the RAM that could cause this but I have never had this in the year I have been playing, the only change was the 9800XT. My other option is that there is some problem with the way WoW works with the 9800XT and my RAM since that is written up a lot on their tech site. In another thread I am looking at upgrading my MB and CPU and I will also upgrade RAM at the same time. The question now I guess is what RAM to use.... Newegg has regular 3200, dual-channel, OC stuff - I am a newb at RAM knowledge.
  23. Ok - I have a 9800XT. Ever since I installed it I get the following problems: WoW crashes quite a bit due to driver conflicts. FEAR has a bunch of red static lines that randomly appear throughout the game I get 3 CLI.EXE programs that run in my process window I am using the Catalyst drivers from ATI. Are there better drivers to get? I heard Omega had drivers that would work but just do not know enough.
