  1. From what i've heard..you need same manufacturer and card... hmm I would sell your 7800 and buy a 7900 GT...good prices now and won't be able to ebay your 7800 for much longer.
  2. Like that stripper ale...heh... I really like the Rogue Hazlenut...
  3. I'm excited...I just have too much work to do right about now... HL2, as I said, IMHO, is the best single player game made. I would be a bit more excited, if I had been playing it for a day. It took me that long to warm up to HL2
  4. Finally a topic I can sink my liver into... check this out...nifty. http://www.mylifeisbeer.com/beer/bottles/b...esbybrewery.php I have so many favorites I can't even begin...oh wait, yes I can...my top 10: 1) Guinness (the kind they have on draft in Europe...not the American's pasteurized version) 2) Ayinger Celebrator Dopplebock (dark, bottle fermented bock beer from Ayinger, Germany) 3) Bent River Chipotle pepper stout (yes, you read that correctly...great beer brewed locally by a brewmaster from my neck of the woods...he works for the legendary microbrew Bent River) 4) Rogue Shakespeare Stout 5) Two Brother's Hop Juice--Double India Pale Ale (from Chicago!) 6) Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat 7) Goose Island Hex Nut Brown Ale (I hear ya Witt) 8) Newcastle Brown Ale (keg, not bottle) 9) Samuel Adams Black Ale 10) Paulaner Hefe Weizen That was kinda tough... I am blessed however, to live in a town with three Bona Fide microbrews...we also have a local brewers club that puts out great stuff too. As proof of my love, I have bottle caps in a collection from all the beers I've had during the past, oh decade...let's see, so far that is 4 gallon-sized ziploc bags full of bottle caps... now, if I only had some way of keeping track of the countless pints from the tappers... Cheers!
  5. It's not too much different than HL2. Episodes are 20 dollars each, 20x3 is 60 dollars (if you preorder each one it will be 2 dollars off each for 54 dollars), 4-6 hours each for 12-16 hours. HL2 was around 15-20 hours for 50 dollars. I'd also rather not wait another 5 years for a sequel. Yep agreed. The orig game for me was more than 15 hours of gameplay...more like 40, b/c I take my time, look around and am not always rushing to get to next autosave or level. They say the episodes will be about 6-8 hours of gameplay...if they are spaced out by 3 mos each, that give you time to really enjoy game and something to look foreward to... I am completely a victim of the "I am playing this till it's done" syndrome. I play a game, sometimes for 8 hours a day...then I'm done with single player and there is nothing to look foreward to. Besides, how can ya hate on HL2?...best single player game ever.
  6. Have you checked out wolfking gaming pads or gaming keyboards? They are pretty good and get good reviews. Does he want to run macros at all???
  7. You know what, I just thought of something else. any of the X800's or any ATI below X1000 does not support all the features of DX9....shader model 3.0 for example. All the nVidia cards from the 6600 on up support all DX9 features. hmmmm
  8. Thought I would add these benchmarks from Extreme Tech on top end video cards...since this thread seems to be the place that "argument" has migrated to. Just some new data on the big guns! http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,1950883,00.asp Here's another that pits ATI vs. NVidia with Oblivion. The X1900, X1800, 7900GT, 7900GTX, and 7600 GT are all review... Very interesting. http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,1947839,00.asp
  9. Ahh...I just thought no one in their right mind would mess with a bunch of angry geeks right in the middle of a heated DM... That is why I carry a pocket knife...*touch my stuff...*stab stab!
  10. Maybe I'm the only one who doesn't get this...or maybe it is real. Does FF really have security??? 2nd question...why?
  11. wow, you guys are good. I managed 1219 a bit ago.
  12. My wife and I sent a bit. Kudos to Fatty for being the man and helping a worthy cause! As the founder of Kongo Zen Buddhism said: "Live half your life for yourself and half for others."
  13. http://www.addictinggames.com/kittencannon.html Bwahahahahaha 1054 is mine, but that took a while... However, be warned it wouldn't let me post scores online... Have fun.
  14. Uhhh...yeah...illegal...making things that are bad for people illegal always works...remember prohibition? People do what they want...you should know that by now. They will keep doing it whether it is legal or illegal right? My mother was almost killed by a drunk driver...and that was not b/c it wasn't illegal now was it...? What we really need to do is make the penalties worse and the law more swift to act in matters like that... For instance, if you wanna do drugs, fine. But the moment you cross the line and it hurts someone else...you need to be punished. Anyways. Ebil, check the newest science. A longterm study done in Great Britain and released last week is the largest ever done on heart disease and alcohol. They found that moderate consumption everyday did help reduce risks but only in men. WTH...interesting. Smoking hurts your cardiovascular in several ways, and you are right...narrow blood vessels, atheroschlerosis (hardening or stiffening of arteries), and increase clotting.
  15. Good luck... check this out All are AGP and all have 16 pixel pipelines (min I would consider for modern games like CSS). That's just to give you idea. Happy hunting, let us know how it turns out.
  16. Yeah...make sure you get the right bus (AGP vs. PCI-E). I'm not sure that ATI makes many of their X1000 series cards in AGP...? Hmmm... nVidia just release the 7800 GS in AGP and it is pretty reasonable...I think that it is getting some good reviews. As for which is better at CSS...I don't know. Since that is a Source Engine game...(like HL2) I think it is nVidia. If you check the benchmarks on those links in that other thread, alot of the mid range HL2 crowns go to nVidia. That is one of the reasons I'm choosing nVidia for my next card, b/c I think it plays HL2 and UT2004 a bit better. But that's just one man's opinion. Check as many benchmarks as you can for yourself. Although I do know that When you really crank the resolution, AA, AF, and use HDR lighting in games (a' la HL2 and some maps in CSS) that the ATI cards perform pretty well. I've played both ATI and nVidia so...
  17. Check the thread I posted a few below this...I have put in some links to some reviews online The thread is "which path should I take." I think one of the best bets out there now for the $$$ is the geforce 7600 GT. A bit faster than the old 6800GT and pretty dang cheap. I think it beats the X1600 in a few real world tests, but check it out for yourself. Those Tom's Hardware links above this are for ATI cards only.
  18. I have a couple of humidors at home b/c I have a buddy in the cigar business. I smoke 1 or 2 a month, but I know guys that smoke 2-3 a day. The real risk from cigars is cancer of the mouth, esophagus, and larynx. I would add that anything is acceptable in moderation with those vices you choose and can control. Your bodies response to those things is a product of your immune system and your genetic risk factors. Some ppl smoke for a year and get lung cancer, some don't. Some ppl have a couple of drinks are are s**t-faced after that (pardon...)...then they get addicted quickly. I had an uncle from Greece who smoked cigars every day and drank as well. He died of "old age" in his 90's. I knew a woman who died at the age of 26 from lung cancer and never smoked a day in her life. However, we are in the middle of a major cancer epidemic where 1 in 2 men will get cancer before they die and 1 in 3 women will get cancer before they die. I would assert that because of the chemical age that dawned on us after the 2nd industrial shift in the 1950's and the founding of the modern chemical lifestyle, we have more cancer. I would be worried about what is in your air, soil, food, and water right now...because those are factors that you have little control over. Samuel Epstein (PHD) from U of I has written several books and 100's of peer reviewed articles about the environmental toxins we are exposed to and how little we know about their effects. Look at our grandparents and great grandparents. My grandparents were Swedish immigrants in the first decade of 1900. She worked on a farm, her husband worked for the railroad as well as farmed, her parents farmed. They smoked pipes, drank wine, ate lard, bacon, cream, fat, etc...they lived well into their 80's and never had cancer. It was their environment. No modern petroleum lifestyle, very little driving and fuel use, no pesticides in their food and water, because none of that was used. We are killing ourselves through our environment. When chemical detergents used in water treatment can be found in broccoli, when rocket fuel additives and PCB's can be found in rivers, lakes, soil, and heck even arctic ice, when the air we breathe contains ozone from fossil fuel consumption...that is cancer causing right there.
  19. Well, I don't wanna start the whole debate ATI vs. nVidia, b/c it's not worth it. However, I will say that I've done a ton of reasearch into these cards...and depending on game and AA and AF settings the top cards perform differently. ATI wins sometimes and nVidia others. For instance: Tom's hardware on two top cards using diff benchmarks and real world Here's another And another More (with Oblivion, for PREACHER!) I would like to note that in Crossfire setup with two cards, you have to disable one in the drivers to watch video, then get both back in it for gaming. You don't have to do that with nVidia. The latest MaximumPC mag also talked about some weird driver issues with both cards on some benchmarks... Hmmm...well who's to say?
  20. You know what I find odd?...the Fact that I occasionally smoke (and have for past 13 years) and yet I know better. I'll tell you a story. My parents are tea-tottlers. They don't smoke, don't drink, they exercise, they go to church every week, and they eat right. Now they are in their mid/late 60's and they are falling apart. I mean, heart disease, asthma, fibromyalgia, arthritis, bouts with cancer (colon and skin)... I decided...ahhh to heck with it. I will drink and smoke when I want because I like to. I enjoy smoking. When I don't, I stop. I roll my own cigs so it is much more a ritual than a force of habit. It is more methodical. There are times when I go months without tobacco, so that is how I know I am not addicted. I never have an overwhelming "urge" to smoke. I do or don't, but it is all up to how I feel at the moment. Sad thing is...I teach biology, run, ride bikes, eat healthy, etc... Heh...stupid is as stupid does. I suppose when my number is up, regardless of life, the good lord will take me to the great beyond.
  21. Sent you a PM...I've only played CSS once, so never really got aquainted with my SteamID... How do I find it? I've tried the obvious things after opening steam, but can't seem to get it done. I'll chalk that up to being at the end of the year working with teens...heh...*braindead*
  22. Bah!...too modest. Bushwack def. owns alot of ppl including me. But you are hardly fodder for the cannon. I mean, I'm not a noob or anything, but I would say you def. have at least a 10:1 kill ratio over me. Must be lucky, eh?
  23. I would like to say that as of tonight, I send my $50 to Fatty Fats. I have great respect for the GC community and would be honored to be a part of it. I have learned much playing with you all over the past year. I hope you all will have me, and I will try to uphold the family name of GC. Fatty! Hook a brutha up!
