I've built hundreds of machines but the problems I am having with this one is over the top. Something is not right with it right now.

I am honestly thinking I got a bad mobo right now. I've never been a big fan of Asus and this brings me back as to why. Every time I reboot this machine it will not actually restart. My screen just goes blank and that is the end of it. I am beyond irritated with this thing right now.

How interesting. I switched drives and it still would not install. It hangs on every screen when the Vista install screen comes up. So I try to install XP and BAMMO! It is working ok. I am guessing it has something to do with Vista being a DVD. I am ordering a SATA DVD drive for cheap use in the system and an additional case fan to help pull in some air since the heatsink on the mobo is really hot.

... I am putting it all together. I get everything together. Boot it up to my Vista DVD to install it. It hangs and takes forever to do anything. I try again with a different DVD; same thing happens. It so turns out that the Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus does not like to install from PATA/EIDE Optical drives. looks like I need to purchase a SATA drive at the moment and the earliest I will see one is Monday since none of the crackpot stores around here carry any such thing.

I could be wrong but I think the same guy who made Dust, Dust2, and cbble made the map.

Did not notice this. Most likely it was a heat issue and the vid card or more clocked down because of it without you realizing it.

late 2007 or most likely 2008. I can't wait to play it; it looks like amazing fun. Same people who made Max Payne.

I will have the rest of my system tomorrow as a matter of fact. Will start putting it together tonight so all I gotta do is toss in the mobo and vid card tomorrow and start the OS install. Should be fun to say the least. lol

Obviously there's nothing you can say at this stage. I hate comparisons like this because it always has a negative effect on the market. I mean look at you guys, all hardcore and all pretty much cutting out ATI before they even have a product on shelves with updated drivers. We also need to see how they compare with 2x2900's in Xfire against 2x8800GTX's in SLI Now that being said...who can fit the 2900 in their standard case? By the looks of it they are nearly an inch longer than the already long 8800's Longer is better... I would agree with you but these cards are over 6 months late in coming out. There has been plenty of time to get drivers ready for this card for release... lots and plenty of time. This card is a flop from all of the reviews I've seen; reviews from Driverheaven.net, Anandtech, Extremetech, etc etc. Some have Crossfire vs SLI comparisons and they are not bad at all but you will need a 1000 watt PSU to run them in that mode not to mention buy a seperate Air Conditioner just to keep your PC from catching on fire. The card isn't as bad as the 5800 FX card from Nvidia back when they were trying to play catchup to the 9700 pro but it is a close comparison. I am disappointed man; it is as simple as that. I am an ATI beta tester and wanted this card to be good enough for me to want to buy. Hell, I love the Avivo encoder that ATI provides for their hardware. I will now have to find something else unless they make a decent all-in-wonder card based on this set for my low-end multi-media machine.

Try uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them. Something obviously isn't right. Your system isn't any type of slouch.

I have these two on order and hope to have them by wed or thursday. For the first time in years, I will be using an Nvidia card. I said I was going all out for future games. I know this card is overkill for cs source but should be pushed well when UT2007 and Alan Wake make their debut. I am most excited about Allan Wake. The vid card is long and takes up one of the IDE channels. This is ok if you have SATA drivers and use the other IDE slot for DVDRW, etc. Picture #4 shows you how long the card is and what I mean. Look to your left and the yellow IDE slot. It is unusable. #5 makes it easy for the mags of the world to understand. (IDE connector is what your standard Hard Drive and CDROM drive hook to) Picture #2 is of the PSU. Picture #3 is of the stock heatsink that came with the CPU; yep, that is a heatpipe. Picture #1 is a general overview.

Check your advance video settings for source. Valve will set your settings for the advanced higher than what they should be. Odds are, you have AA set to 4x and AF set to 16x. Probably the rest of your settings are set to really high. Put AA to like 2x (Anti-Aliasing) and the AF settings to like 4x. Turn off the HDR lighting effects and put the models and what not to medium and try that. Ensure the same for your driver settings for the card itself. Put everything to application dependent.

I did not much care for that side story but her first and 3rd trilogy that revolved around the assassin and his wolf were some of the best I've ever read. Loved the books and the story. That is his hardest book to read but it was also his first and it took him years to finish writing it. Once you get past it and into the Elf Stones of Shannara and the rest of the books, they only get better. Do not judge his writing on his first book from 1976-1977 since I consider him the best fantasy author alive today. Yeah, Roger Zelazny's Amber chronicles are one of if not the best story ever told in the world of fantasy/sci-fi. I've read it a few times now and I always love it when I forget much of the story and can go back to read it again. His imagination in this series far surpasses any sci-ci type of story that I've ever read or seen in the movies. The way he mixes everything together so perfectly is just mind boggling. Another great author that I've really enjoyed is Mercedes Lackey. The only two series that I've read so far are the "Dragon Jousters" series and the "Obsidian Trilogy" series. She is one of a very few female authors that I know of and I thoroughly enjoy her writing. She can make a fantasy story that does not evolve around magic the most interesting of stories. That would be the Dragon Jousters series. The other involves magic or specifically the three different types. If a book is great, I own it. Raymond E. Feist is really good but I thought the Sword of Truth books were just down right terrible. I can't remember which book I stopped at but it was the one where we switched off to some other group of people and this boring political climate in that particular city. Over all, I found his writing to be just downright bad.

I just wanted to clarify that I am not taking sides in this. The past few weeks I have not seen Norg stack like the situation we had last night. Hell, I try to join Norg's side of the map if things are not stacked because he is hilarious on the mic. I switch up if things get out of hand and I've seen him do the same thing. I would prefer to chock this off as a moment of getting caught up in the action and not noticing the stacking that is taking place.

They did do the stack thing tonight for 3 consecutive maps. With that said, Norg has been switching it up the last few days that I've been playing with him. This may have been just a fluke but it was frustrating and after pointing that out, M2 did switch it up. I think that this should not happen as often as it does though. I personally prefer to be on the losing team but there is a limit to how much one sided ownage one can take. I ask that all of you pwnstars keep that in mind.

An excellent summation. Definitely wasn't the worst movie I ever saw...you obviously haven't seen Battlefield Earth or Eragon...two of the biggest let-downs of my movie-going life. Oh...well Bloodrayne was absolutely abysmal. I'd rate those three as the three worst movies of all time probably....or at least for me. Not to change the subject, but I thought Eragon was "ok" and I actually really liked Battlefield Earth.
