  1. It does not matter, I am using the new Antec P182SE case. There is no side window; I am going for quiet and cooling with this case (and external cosmetics). As for RAM, this looks like it would be ok as well if the Geil would be a bad choice: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231087
  2. This is the memory I am looking at regarding performance/cost ratio. Low CAS and a nice voltage range. The customer reviews looking promising as well as overclockability. Opinions? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820144062
  3. Been thinking about it but apparently you have to drop the timings to go with 4 sticks. Cujo, did you have to loosen your timings when going with 4 sticks?
  4. I am considering it. I would like to see some benchmark comparisons though.
  5. First, I will point out what I am thinking and you set the record straight. 1. My CPU bus speed is 1066 (266 * 4)~ 2. DDR2 RAM is still double data rate but the transfer speed is quad which is acquired by sacrificing CAS latency 3. The G-skill RAM I posted above is clcoked at 533 and is effectively 1066 since it is Double Pumped. 4. In Reality the CPU fsb is clocked at 266 and the RAM is clocked at 533. I get everything you've said now that I've reviewed it and laid everything out. Now I need to see some benchmarks between the 800 and 1066 speeds.
  6. Yeah, that G Skill is what I was looking at maybe going with. I would try out 2-gigs and if I need more RAM for Vista, I can by another 2-gig set for just 200 bucks. I use G Skill now which has been the best memory I've ever used. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231128
  7. Yeah, I know how it all works since the AMD divider is x2 and the intel is x4. My confusion is whether the 800 - 1066 is much of a difference. I still think I am going to go with the 1066 memory since going lower than what my system can do would be silly I think. I am thinking the extra bandwidth by going from 800 to 1066 will make up for the cas latency hike to 5 from 4.
  8. There is no guarantee that the 800 mhz RAM will hit 1066 which is the default bus speeds for the CPU and Mobo. That is why I am looking to not buy that RAM. I am building from the ground up (minus the sound and hard drives) and want to make sure I am not buying stuff that is out of date. I may not be able to upgrade again for a while.
  9. I am glad to see Nuke on the map cycle; that is my all time favorite. I remember Thunder as an official map back in the old Beta days of cs (before source). We had a blast on it Saturday night with some of the T strats that Ty was coming up with. lol Night Fever is an amazing map for a custom map. Those Valve guys should use it as a model of how to make a great looking map that plays great and does not kill your framerate. Some of the maps are killing the population at certain times of the day, one of them being Russka and Temple_pro. I do not dislike the maps but I have seen the server go from 22 people down to 6 because of these maps because of when they are played. Also, is there a reason why auto snipes are not allowed anymore? I know they can be annoying but at the same time they are part of the game and if people want to spend the money on them, let them. Let's just limit them to 1 or two per team like with the awps. Speaking of limitations, the awp limitation is a little annoying. Even if you buy an awp and during the round someone picks up a 3rd, you will have your awp taken away. Is there any way to fix that?
  10. Finding benchmarks that explain this and show the different results is difficult to come by. What I do not want to do is dumb-down or slow down my system because the RAM is not in sync with the CPU/mobo bus speed. What I've also noticed is that a lot of the RAM being spec'd as 1066 has reviews on newegg with consumers saying how easily they OC'd it to 1066; this makes me wonder if maybe this RAM was originally touted as 800 and they just changed the spec to 1066 later. This is what I get for being an AMD guy all this time.
  11. When doing video benchmarks like that, you want the fastest processor possible. This prevents the CPU from being a bottleneck and making the results lower than what they can really do. In this case, we are talking about max/peak performance. For a realistic benchmark, something a little more mainstream can be used and there are benchmarks that do that as well.

  13. Take these with a grain of salt. There is no mention of AA settings or AF settings or anything. It does look like the 2600XT will be a nice card for around the $450 mark if that is the expected street price. I hope they have a decent volume as well. http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=7043
  14. Well, this is what I got from Mwave. The bus speed of the processor is 1066. # INTEL CORE 2 DUO E6420 (BX80557E6420) 2.13GHZ EM64T DUAL CORE W/4MB CACHE 1066MHZ LGA775-PIN RETAIL BOXED W/COOLING FAN (3 YEARS WARRANTY)FREE 512MB USB 2.0 FLASH DRIVE
  15. I am looking for DDR2 Kit of 2-Gig from a known brand that is at a good price. Prefer a known brand such as OCZ, Geil, G Skill, etc. If anyone has anything, please post them up. Be great if there were something under 300 bucks with this size and speed that was also cas latency of 4.
  16. I got my case yesterday. What a great looking case. I can not wait to put this thing together.
  17. What is the name of it? I am not quite sure what it is that you are talking about in this case. Is it an Intel only sort of thing maybe?
  18. Great new episode after 2 months of waiting. I hope no one forgot.
  19. Everything went really well at work today. I did not see any media people and despite the misery of trying to make everything work when all of my people are scattered all over the place, I had a really good day. This event should start to fade into the background soon enough.
  20. It is unfortunately too slow since most every CPU these days is 800 Mhz or faster and you want your RAM and FSB in sync. Good deal though if you just need something to fill the RAM slots until later.
  21. Nope. He knows who he is and I haven't seen him in a few weeks.
  22. http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=BA22889 http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductList....&Brand=EVGA or http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductList....&Brand=EVGA
  23. Yeah, whichever review site mentioned (possibly x-bit) that the 6600 was being phased out for the 6420 since it has double the cache and is the same speed.
  24. Send him this way. I never see him on IM or xfire anymore.
