As they ride deeper and deeper into the forest they become more nervous of their surroundings. Randolph and the Knight continue forward when all of a sudden the forest becomes dead silent, not a single chirp from a bird or any other wildlife within earshot. The horses stop and become restless. While the Knight tries to calm down his steed an arrow flies by his head just barely missing him.

After applying some medicinal herbs to the wound and wrapping it with the bandage, Randolph began to inquire as to the situation the Knight was in. He calmly asked him "What are you doing here so far from home?"

Unknowingly, one of his slashes gravely wounded the monster and it retreated under the water whence it came. Without wasting time, the Knight frantically swam to shore and with his last bit of strength managed to pull himself out of the water and up onto the bank.
