thank you dweez. New bug: I opened steam and it would not give me an active window... just hourglass for a second and then stored it away in task manager as a process, but never gave me a window to work in. Strange, eh? So I reinstalled it, and now it won't let me log in, change password, or create new. (Failed with error 200.. could not connect to Steam.) Wild.

Guess I'll reply to myself since no one else will. Well, Skywalker, just jump in there and take a wild guess. Maybe you'll get lucky. And secondly, if you know where to find the new upgrade, do tell! I cant seem to find many games anymore, so it asks "Do you want to upgrade?" and so I click "Yes" and it says, "That's nice. What did you want?" "The trouble with people is they always need something else."

I am FURIOUS with the way 1.6 is running. (and no, it's not my computer.) After the first death, i am no longer able to view scores using tab, nor chat or teamchat. I cannot vote using the 1-4 keys on maps. I cannot use my microphone key to speak. I cannot follow others around with spectator mode, though the enter key will switch between players, rather than the previous "click." All of these fuctions work when I'm alive, but not when I'm dead. This ticks me off. I can deal with the frustration of adjusting to a slower gameplay, or different skins, and sounds, but when i cant simply view scores, it makes me want to delete steam and cs from my computer completely. ARGH!!

Well... First of all, thanks for finding it. I tried and failed. However I have side effects. <I don't know if it's related or coincidence.> CS starts now, but when I try to connect to TROP, i get "LAN servers are restricted to local clients (Class C)." oooookay.. the other servers dont give me that... What does it mean? -"Do these jeans make me look fat?" "No, your big thighs make you look fat."

Had the same problem with earlier versions of CS, but don't remember what fixed it.. sorry.

well I'll put in my two cents....Kemo and I have had nothing but problems with this radeon 8500le....from having conflicts and it not running all kinds of games....too not having enough customizable stuff in the contol panel...and my newest fav. is that sometimes with my 8500 my computer just won't start up....it freezes on boot up and the only way to fix it, is to play with the cards seating...take it out put it back in...turn it off and connect and reconnect the monitor cable. I first thought it must be a prob with the agp slot....but nope... put in another card and I never have a problem....put the 8500 in a differnt computer with a diff monitor...and it has the same problem and freezes in the same place. On the other hand...kemo's new gf4 ti 200 runs awsome...it is some jackoff brand we've never heard of...it only has 54 megs of ram and it rips the 128meg 8500 to shreds. True the 9700 maybe very nice... but you have to sell your soul to buy one....not saying a ti 4600 is gonna be cheap either but i'd be happy with a 4800 or a 4200...espc. since I can find a cheep ti200 that runs at 8x (since i have an 8x apg slot hehe) DANG IT....I DIDN'T log sky out again....this is slaphappy

Now that you're lending your expertise, comment on the necessity of aluminum case in an air cooled PC... I'm thinking of buying this one, not because it has a cool window, but because it has all the features I'm looking for with the exception of space for an additional fan in the back. I'm checking out the best deals of video cards... I know I want Gforce because their drivers are more realiable. (or if they wish to argue, more easily found than ATI.) These are the cards I'm looking at: Look at the price difference <or lack thereof> and recommend which is best... Gainward geforce 4 ti 4800se8x and 4200se8x Also, if you know of a comparable card around the same price, fire away! On another note, if I hook my vid card up to me 53" HD tv, does it have to be "Component" in, or will rca input still run HD? Lastly, I'm buying a couple strips of 333MhZ 512 DDR. So, I've taken your advice, dweez, and picked up a $96 motherboard from heaven. Now, I just need the rest of the PC! Any suggestions on Case Brand, Power supply output? (That's obviously the first step in getting this PC up and running.) Secondly, and more importantly, is this XP 1800 processor that's been "stepped" the same as the 2.1 gHz as fast and reliable as, say, the XP2600 with the 333 bus speed? It's listed as $161.
