  1. I would also try taking out the bios battery for a couple of minutes. Apparently 2 is enough. This is supposed to clear the bios of anything lurking in there. I once had a problem with stuff being stored in bios. The battery is pretty easy to remove, just take a small screwdriver under an edge of the battery and pop it up. The bios battery looks like a wristwatch battery, btw.
  2. Wow, where do I sign up? I wish there was a job like that at my school, everything there is top of the line. Anything they throw away can't be more than a year old.
  3. Well, I have my wireless reciever about 12-18 inches away from the keyboard and mouse, so it's pretty close. And I've not experienced any lag. I've heard that once you wear the charge down, it can get a little laggy, but I've got 3 charges in it and just charge it whenever I'm not at the comp (and I'm at it a lot). Never drained the batteries or gotten close. I imagine the batteries will die eventually, but I'm sure I've got awhile. As far as the mouse accel, I got that fix that dweez gave me, and it seems to have gotten everything in order. Dweez, what was the other reg file for? I haven't used it, but I'm curious about what it does. I'll be switching the ram around today, and I'll let you guys know what happens. Edit: I'm going to be running Memtest tonight to make sure my ram is good and all the addresses are good. Hopefully there aren't any problems there, but we'll be able to see if it's the ram behind this.
  4. Yeah, I formatted before I threw it in here, so I'm not sure what it could be.
  5. Yeah, I had installed the 4 in 1 already, but I don't think they were the latest, so I'm getting the newest ones right now. Aside from that, I may uninstall all video drivers and give them a clean install.
  6. Alright I ran that, I'll run BF1942 and see if it changes anything. Do I need to set some option somewhere, or does it just work automatically? And I just noticed this, I'm only running in single channel aren't I? Should I move the stick from slot 2 to slot 1?
  7. The golden dragons work really well, I haven't had a problem with them at all. Here are the specs for what I have now: AMD Athlon64 3000+ still clocked at 2.0 (but not for long) ASUS K8V Deluxe All in Wonder 9800 Pro (temporarily, then back to the 9600XT) Quantam 40 gb Primary (salvaged from old setup) WD 120 Storage And, just because I love them so much, my Logitech Cordless MX Duo. This mouse and keyboard combo is excellent, I'd never go back. The only problem is, I need to find a way to turn down the sensitivity when I play BF1942, because I can't get mouse accel to stay off. Any help here would be great. Also, I ran the 3dMark 03, and only got 1997. I don't know what I'm missing, possibly the newest driver version? But people with comparable or less setups got several thousand more points than I did, and the only major difference I noticed was the driver version.
  8. I most certainly did. And it was the most horrible thing I've ever wasted that many hours on. It's probably because this is the first time I've ever built a comp for myself and the first time I've done any mods. But good lord, I spent several hours doing that. I think the stuff I had was pretty crappy quality too. I'm happy it looks as good as it does.
  9. Yeah, right now they are set as intakes. I've been planning on putting a blowhole in the top, I just have to make the time to do it. And with the handle, I'm not sure how big of one I'll be able to fit in there. And yeah, I just swapped cards with my friend for awhile because he just got a shuttle and can't power the AiW 9800 Pro with his box. Yup, that fan grill did come with the case. I would've switched it out, but I think it works with the window pretty well.
  10. I don't have a lot of time before class, so I'll just throw these up without any comments. Maybe I'll come back and do that later. Here they are: I'll try to post detailed specs later tonight.
  11. Just got back from work, and I'm crazy tired, so I'll save most of the important stuff for the morning. I'll be posting pics tomorrow as soon as I upload them, and I'll make sure to take an inside the case picture, including the heatsink. It's pretty quiet, even with the heatsink and 5 fans in there. I'd say my hard dive is competing for loudest thing in the case. But yeah, the hsf has an all copper bottom, looks pretty standard. Anyhow, I'm off to bed, I'll try to get some pics posted before class tomorrow.

    Live To Kill

Harsh Fatty, just plain harsh. In fact, I'd say you went way too far on that one.
  13. The stock hsf for now. And it's usually about 35 under a load. We still have room for improvement.
  14. Well, it's hard to say how much of a difference it is from the later XPs, since the last thing I had was an Intel 1.5. But compared to that, this thing screams. I haven't attempted to overclock it yet, since I just finished most of my modifications this weekend. I'll post some pics when I get a chance, I sleeved all of the cable and put a handle on there, as well as put in a fanbus. There's plenty of cooling in there, and I'm considering getting a Zalman HSF sometime soon for a little more. Aside from that, I just got 3d Mark 03 and I intend to run it when I leave for class this morning. I'll post up my scores later. For 200 bucks, this proc really puts out.
  15. Actually, I have you all beat to the 64 line. Excellent.
  16. Just got a new box with the 64 3000+. Loving every minute. And I even have my friend's AiW 9800 Pro right now since he can't use it. It's pure gaming bliss.
  17. I can't believe I just read that and actually understood it....
  18. Yes, P4s are better for graphics programs and video encoding. However, AMDs are better for gaming, as the benchmarks from over at Toms Hardware will show.
  19. Wow, thanks for taking the time to type all of that out, very helpful. So I guess I'm gonna be using ATA100 on this one.
  20. I'm about to put my new setup together, but I really have no idea how this RAID stuff works. What is the difference between Serial ATA (with the small connector) and the normal ATA RAID that still uses the IDE cable? And what are the differences between RAID 0, RAID 1, and RAID 0 + 1? I have a 40 gig with my primary stuff like OS and progs that I'm not gonna change, and then a 120 gig secondary with music, movies, games, etc. My mobo came with all the cabling to go either way, but I don't know what the best setup would be. Any help?
  21. The multipliers have been locked for some time. You can still OC the FSB.
  22. Happy Birthday indeed, let's all remember who this is about.
  23. Alienware has never owned, Thermaltake on the other hand, has always owned. I'm just biding my time since I can get my new box with the Lanfire.

    Downloads?

K++ if you absolutely must, but I'd recommend just using BitTorrent, go to suprnova and you can find darn near anything you want.
