  1. i think i might join this. but i dont know what the requirements are for it. if i was going to be in this thread, id have to say my start date before working out was August 31, 05 then progressing until the third week of febuary. as of the end of august i was 200-204 lbs, with an estimated 15-16% body fat ratio. i have a some what unfair advantage to the others participating in this. I am in college and I a division one athelete. I participate in swimming on my campus so basically, my whole life revolves around working out and school work. schedule for the week monday, wed, friday workouts 6:30-8:46 am: swimming consisting of anywhere from 5500-6200 yards (this is also dependant on the time of year for intensity/lenth [yardage] of swimming workout) 1:30 - 2:15 pm working out the basics of my workout are: concentration of 4-5 workouts on certain body parts (id have to get my workout schedule to give exact muscle groups that im working out). each exercise gets 2 sets of about 10 - 8 reps. then: circut training. consists of 5-6 excersises, 2 sets of 10 reps. repeat twice tues/thurs: swimming 4:30-6:45 consisting of 6200-6500 yards. saturday: swimming consisting of 6000 yards. how to put my swimming workouts in perspective: 1.) 1 mile = 1650 yards or 66 lenths of the pool (swimming from one side of the pool to the other) 2.) average workout of 5800 yards = 3.5 miles or 232 lenths lowest yardage in one day 5200 = 3.1 miles highest yardage in one day 6800 = 4.1 miles 3.) lifting figured in adds to fatigue of muscles which hinders speed in practice and the converse is true. swimming adds to fatigue of muscles for lifting so increasing of weight for lifting (in my opinoin) decreases probability of increasing weight by at least 50% up to 80%. average calories burned for one practice (estimated) to include age, intensity of workouts and how often an 'average' college student swims: 2000 calories lifting: unknown. my best educational guess: anywhere from 500-800 calories for a 40 minute, intense workout, abs included with all this information, my coach who is extremly knowledgable with the effects of swimming on the young adult body advises that each swimmer eat at least 4500 calories of a well banlanced diet a day. rough math: 2000-2500 calories for a swim practice + 500 lifting + 2000 calories from doing regular every day activities = (about) 4500 to 5000 calories. sick thing: if i eat this many calories a day, id just be burning about the same amount i ate and then the rest is used for rebuliding of muscles. if i was going to set goals, they would be semi-unconventional to your goals. it seems that weight is one goal of yours. while im in season, it is recommended that we do not try to lose weight because it will be detremental to our workouts: substancially decreasing calories will atrophy muscles instead of gaining muscle. so basically, weight isn't an issue with me, id probably have to set a goal of fat percentage. any other goals would be secondary: ie, body weight and the amount of weight i am able to lift week to week.
  2. hey, i just stopped on to check out this side of the forum, i think i'll be more active in here. on the subject of my thread, ive had some back trouble starting in highschool at 18, im 22 now and i have to do stuff to keep my back in half way decent shape so i don't have rediculous amounts of pain. ive got a few things that may help that bad back of yours. these tips are mostly for your lower back, i dont have much advice for upper back. stretching - if you want to feel better, stretch. the place where you need to focus streching is your legs. my favorite stretch that makes my back losen up almost right after i do it is (apologies for no pictures. i'll describe as well as i can) 1.) i have no name for this stretch. kneel on one knee. your other leg foot in front of you bent at the knee, foot flat on the ground. hehe heres an ansii (<- wt heck is the proper acryonym) - use your hands and place them on or above your backside, rear, whatever - push your rear end forward - if ur doing it right, you'll feel a stretch right at your hip, where your femur goes into your hip bone you do this 3 sets for :20 for each leg, 5 seconds rest between each interval. 2.) put your leg up where you sit on a chair, place your foot so it makes a 90 degree angle with your calf on the back of the chair. your other leg is straight, holding most of your weight. - keeping your back straight, make your arms straight and point them towards your foot on the chair - reach to the right of your foot, at your foot, then left of your foot. - dont bounce when doing this, you'll mess up your back - you should feel the underside of your knee streching - 3 x 21 reaches per foot 3.) strech your gluts, im not even going to explain these because they'll be way too confusing. if you guys have questions because this is too ambiguous, i'll see what i can do about posting pictures. 4.) AB workouts! as much as it sucks doing abs when your back is tender, it helps out a lot. I would guess this would depend on how bad your back hurts and your age. with my body, i have problems doing some ab workouts but my back can be in some pain while im doing them. by doing consistant ab workouts, even if you have no tone to your abs, they'll get stronger and take pressure off your back. 5.) remember to modify your workouts. using walls for certain excercises help or wearing a back brace. advice for one workout: if your doing heavy weight for the curl bar, this can be absolutly insane punishing your lower back. if you brace yourself up against a wall with your legs and then use the curl bar, this will prevent you from leaning too far forward and impossible to bend backwards which does the most damage to your back when doing this exercise. i'll post up some more advice when i get back from class... im late. hope this helps! edited *added* the reasoning for streching your legs is to loosen the muscles around your hips. when you dont stretch your legs, the muscles pull the front part of your hips down and in effect, make the back of your hips higher in your back. this makes your back musles have less room to move and creates spazzsm-ing or tightness. loosening the muscles in your hips will help them to level out and give your lower back more room for the muscles. in direct application to bigbone's problems with the 'sleepyness' in his leg and tingle-ing: when your lower back is screwed up, the added pressure of your muscles tightening up will make your lower back vertebrae squeeze together and in effect squeeze your nerves that go down to your leg. when these nerves squeeze, there will be numbing or a feeling of an electrial impulse going through your leg. stretching your legs, again, will help your hip from being in the incorrect position and give your lower back muscles more room to prevent problems arising/becoming worse. /end addition
  3. hey guys i just caught anti on AIM today and he was telling me that he wont be able to play for awhile because his house burned down. He said it was an old house that was built in the 40s and it was an electrical fire in the walls. Everyone in his family got out alright and hes currently renting a house while his damaged one gets repaired. He sends his best and hopes that he can get back to gaming by winter. Hes computer-less for awhile but he said that he'll be back to pwning stedanko and stepback as soon as possible. hopefully we'll all see him soon!
  4. i have an avi from a phone recorded video. problem is, the video is really dark and its sideways. i was wondering if anyone knew any free progs that i could flip and screw around with the contrast and brightness so it could be clearer. ty
  5. lunk, i know your on a bad streak, as of late, and its usually a challenging encounter when we meet. but if i ever hack you, while im having problems with my box rendering, i'll tell u. you dont have to think i hack every time i kill you. sometimes, i'll get lucky, it'll be skill or it'll be hacks. but i'll always tell u the truth, even tho most of the time, its just pure skill. =P hope to see you back up to full potential soon. i hate having bad streaks. peace

  8. I'm sure some of you know, one of the problems that people are having is, transparent boxes. havn't heard yet? Boxes do not appear from far away and fill in as I get closer. This backs up my statement that CSP does absolutly nothing. I don't care if its a CAL standard or whatever, its total poopy. I CSP authenticate every time i've gone onto a server with my 1337 new STEAM provided hacks. As cool as it is, its pretty dang annoying. I have to KNOW exactly where boxes are exactly where i stand without seeing them, figure out if im shooting at a box and then adjust my aiming. Its extremly annoying. I have about a dozen screen shots to show you. They're sorta cool. My school's ISP sucks so i cant upload any more pictures to image shack but i'll post the ones i have now. the 'best' time for my 1337 h4xs is when is on de_dust2. from tunnels if i walk into B, i can see EVERYTHING, no boxes, only walls. And short A, when i walk into the site, no boxes. Also i can see thru the windows so if your standing in the spot behind the site at A, i can see you thru the windows that arnt drawn. Please post a fix if u find one, ive tried looking on the steamforums.com and nothing i found works. First one: Office at CT spawn, isnt that cute? when i back up to the wall i can see thru the big freight cartons all the way to garage. notice how its half drawn in. Aztec, notice the guy crouching behind the tripple boxes who is alive, theres a dead body hanging from the box behind him. Note: where are the far tripple boxes near T DD? i cant see them! Assault, notice how the garage is drawn in on the left side, thru the red freighter box. Assault again. Cant see the farthest boxes but the shadows are there, semi-transparent boxes closer, near the beam. thats all i can upload for now. I'll put 2 office ones up in ahwile. PS dont ban me!

  11. i dont have 'irrefutable' evidence of walling but obiously when i wasnt demoing (specing right after i died) it was so blantant. he plays sketchy anyways but covers it up well for the most part. i have 2 demos, where he leads walls for dd in aztec. i dont know how to post the demos. hes just some guy who dropped by. # 616 "Skultheos" STEAM_0:0:3163822 41:14 25 0 active midwest stock started playing at about 12:45 eastern.

  13. any normal map such as compound will change after a few minutes. the 50 kills does not trigger the map change, something else does. all the coustom maps will go to 50 kills.

  19. just this afternoon when ive been playing i get disconnected because ive lost connection with the vac servers. i clicked on the link and did the tests and everything is optimized and i did the port forwarding. i cant play on any vac servers now unless i wanna get disconnected every five minutes. doesnt look like vac was everything it was suppose to be, sad thing is, im not suprised.
