  1. Our systems managed to play host to the worm, and it caused chaos. The computer would stay up for about 2-3 minutes, sometimes shorter or longer, then close out services.exe (if I remember correctly) so that windows forced restart. Only took the IT guys about 4.5 hours to get everything back up and running normally. When I got home, I saw that the security bulletin on MS's TechNet had been posted Sunday. It really amazed me that so many places had not patched up Monday.

I was having major lag issues yesterday while trying to play BF2. Tried about 3-4 servers before I just gave up. SBC need not figure out where they can shove their DSL service most days. I could easily show them for a hefty fee, like the one they charge for decent speeds...
  3. So... add this on the list right under Team Fortress 2 and DoD:S. Check!
  4. Newegg has the .90's for $20. They are labeled as OEM, so they do not come with packaging. But, if you are picky, you can get teh retail ones, in package for $22. Of course you have the $4.99 and 5.99 shipping, respectively. Or you can see if your local circuit city has them in stock, pick them up for $25, and have them right away.
  5. From the Steam update on Friday, August 5- They've been getting close to being done with DoD:S (or atleast, according to them) for a long, long time now. Just like they were making some good progress on TF2. It may not be 2008 by the time this game is released, but it might as well be if they keep saying, "Da, Dum, uh, well, we are close to picking a release date, but we really aren't sure what DoD:S stands for anymore. Stand by for another update." People paid extra moolah so that they were guaranteed DoD:S the day it was released. I don't think many people thought it was going to be almost a year later that it would be "close" to release. This is like putting your car in the shop, paying for whatever is supposed to be done with it, and having the mechanics throw it on the back lot till they get time to look at it. Obviously a far stretched comparison, but would you want to wait a year for someone to get around to fixing your car when you already paid them to do the work?
  6. Nah... Just leave it on and hold the can upside down! Just kidding. Good, noteworthy, advice Preacher!
  7. From the top of that Planet Fortress 2 website : This game, as cool as it could be, looks to be pretty much dead. I would assume Valve is concentrating all of their attention and efforts on further delaying DoD:S, which does not have a definite release date almost a year after the release of HL2. I really do feel for the people who were suckered into the higher priced packages with the promise of getting DoD:S the minute it was released. The latest update given on the DoD:S page is from Feb. 24 2005, and says "Day of Defeat: Source, Valve's World War II-themed multiplayer action game, is approaching beta and will be available early this spring via Steam." We are fast approaching fall '05, and still no word on a release. Sadly, I feel a lot of people will have given up hope or forgotten about this games pending release by the time they get around to deciding they might be close to being finished with it.
  8. Never had a problem with air duster... Just dont spray it with the can upside down You can usually find "free" cans of compressed air at places like Office Max and Office Depot (Usually something like $2.99, with a mail-in or instant rebate)
  9. Click it again and it brings them to the top. I always sort by ping, then find a server with a decent amount of people in it. The filters at the bottom are useless. I have it filtering out servers that are full or empty, and I still get them anyways. Only nice thing I have noticed is that the list automatically refreshes pings and players after a minute or so. Hopefully the updates will bring things up to speed. As much as we all hated steam (atleast I did), it does have a nice interface and is easy to use. I would like to be able to see if people are actually in the GC server instead of just putting in the IP and hoping. All you BF2 players, lets get a game going!
  10. I know that they have promised a "favorite server" and "history" section in the next update. But, until then, what do you all use to check up on servers? I have been using the in game feature, but I never get to play in the same server more than once since I can never seem to find the same ones over again. It is kind of annoying.
  11. Hmm.. My eyes usually go crazy after about 5 minutes of being at the computer with my contacs in. On top of that, I can never see things in game as well. I usually just switch over to my glasses. Might have to try a higher refresh rate. I have been running 60Hz.
  12. I have that same problem with my contacs. My eyes start to dry out and I can't see anything on-screen with them in. I usually go for my glasses when I will be at the computer for a while. As far as the lines, I agree with NOFX. I have a 9600XT, and it has done the same thing. Try finding an aftermarket heatsink and fan for the card. This should fit your card, I believe. You can always call and ask them about it though.
  13. Anyone want to get a game together? I finally convinced the warden, and got a copy I need some schooling in the art of squad play.
  14. From their answers page. I could never get used to the split key design. I can type quickly and accurately, but not the traditional taught way.
  15. Wonder if it goes into fits once a month.
  16. Sorry for repost. I don't read over the boards too often anymore.
  17. I need a new job so I can afford one when they come out! I just hope they really go through with their plans to make it. Would be awesome for gaming, as well as any other program you use!
  18. Thought this would be mighty appropriate for him.
  19. Wow, is it really true? I tried getting ahold of him to no avail a long time ago on some Star Wars site he frequented. Good to see a good guy back into cs:s. Now if only I could get some time to sit and play for awhile. Mmmm? Try LC... those were the days! The days before I even knew Mmmm, or DOH existed.
  20. I was looking around at Vegas Video, and there is a watered down version for home users that was going for ~$100. Seemed like it had some nice features to it. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I am going to grab a few demo's and see which one I like the best.
  21. *Nevermind... I found it about 30 seconds after this post... I need to learn to look a little harder next time!* Anyone got a link to the video with the guy and his son in the grocery store. The kid throws a huge fit and starts knocking things off the shelf and knocking over displays. It has something like "This is a reason to use birth control."
  22. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm really just looking for pretty simple stuff. Would like some fun transition effects to play around with. Also want the ability to add background music, preferrably in .mp3 or .wma. Would also like to be able to burn to a dvd so that the videos can be sent out to family and friends. Windows Movie Maker is pretty easy to put together movies, but you can't burn to dvd with out using another program. I guess I could do that, but I would rather just be able to burn from the same software. I may be getting set up with Adobe Premier, and also had someone suggest Vegas Video. I will check out Pinnacle Studio as well.
  23. I just got a digital video camera Panasonic PV-GS35, and I am looking for a good program to edit and burn video to dvd. I am looking for a decently powerful program. It came with MotionDV, but it seems to not let you use mp3's for background music. Dunno if I will have to just convert to their file type or what. Any suggestions/help would be much appreciated!
  24. Carsoup.com if they have it in your area. Craigslist can be a good place to look. Ebay? Autotrader and the local paper seem to be the best places usually.
  25. That actually belongs to you IL people! But for some unknown reason, we still lay claim to it... You all can have it! But East STL is exactly what I am referring to. That and about every other direction around the city. St. Charles has it's fair share of oddities. But we are far enough away from the actual city to be safe.
