    Hi Guys

Heya Face, Welcome back to the frey!
  2. LAN ping online is a wonderful thing!
  3. one can hope john, one can always hope.
  4. Man after 5 years I didn't think I'd ever see the day! It brings a tear to my eye...
  5. Channel is registered. #GamersCoalition on Gamesurge. Everyone idle!
  6. I think the ol' reconnect trick is really too small of a deal to concern ourselves with. I mean if they don't make it back by the end of the round they lose more money than they would have staying. Also, they risk getting booted on the reconnect due to a full server. I wouldn't consider it much of an exploit, and once they get a few kills they won't be doing it anymore.
  7. Here's a pretty in depth guide I typed a while back for the guys in Mmmm. I think most of the stuff is still current although I haven't been using IRC very much recently. Anyways here it is. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First of all, what is the point of IRC? IRC (internet Relay Chat) is the preferred communication tool for all things CS related in terms of leagues, matches and scrims. It is through IRC that you can find another team to scrim with and set up match times for CAL. If no other Mmmm are on and you fell like scrimming you can even g into a channel and "ring" for another clan. Where do you download it? You can download the client here or you can use a third party client. The one that I use is called hix script and if you prefer you can download it here Once you have it downloaded and installed you'll want to open the program. The window you see will be the status window. At the bottom of the window is a line to enter text; copy and paste these lines into that text area and hit enter. /server -a irc.gamesurge.net -g GameSurge -d GameSurge IRC Network /server -a irc.au.gamesurge.net -g GameSurge -d GameSurge Australian Servers /server -a irc.ca.gamesurge.net -g GameSurge -d GameSurge Canadian Servers /server -a irc.eu.gamesurge.net -g GameSurge -d GameSurge European Servers /server -a irc.us.gamesurge.net -g GameSurge -d GameSurge US Servers After doing that click on the options icon at the top left of the screen (its the one with the hammer and folder). Click on the Connect category and then select GameSurge from the drop down menu next to IRC Network ( it may be ath the very bottom of the list or in alphabetical order). In the drop down menu below the IRC network one select GameSurge US Servers. Enter your name and email(they dont need to be real, in fact it doesnt really matter) and a username (the username u select here can be changed whenever. Click on the options subcategory in the Connect Category and check the box for "Connect on Startup". Go back to the Connect category and click on Connec to IRC. If you're using HIX a bunch of channels will automatically pop up. You can close these by simply clicking close on the top right of the channel's window. Next to the options icon there is an icon with a pound sign and and a plus sign, click on it. On the right side of the window click add and enter #GamersCoalition into the channel space and check the box at the bottom "Join Channel on Connect. #GamersCoalition should now be listed in the channels window. Double click on it and you will enter the channel. Those are the basics for getting IRC set up. If you want to scrim you join the #sourcescrim channel. You can join any channel by typing /j #channelname in any channel window. If you want to ring for someone else you can join #sourceringer I'll post a link below with information on how to authenticate which is basically a way of registering yourself on the network which allows for admin access in channels. IRC uses very little if any system resources so you can just minimze it to task bar when you're not using it. Post up with any questions. The link to the user guide on how to authenticate is here: http://www.gamesurge.net/newuser/
  8. yea, my banstick accuracy is pretty lacking though
  9. O yea. [Mmmm]slims .gc 0:1:92587 Reason: an incompetence with the mani plugin apparently I really really like playing on the gc servers and have been doing so for about four years now. Thanks in advance!
  10. That was me I think. Don't feel bad though because I managed to somehow ban myself as well! i was ATTEMPTING to ban a guy named S'MO for porn sprays but it somehow got me and apparently you. I really do apologize for that and we'll get it straightened out quickly.
  11. Nice looking desk, I especially like the padded cell look too. Die hard gaming.
  12. where can you toggle the warning message on or off?
  13. Yea like I checked the cpu temperature and it's sitting nicely at 39 degrees C. With q-fan off the cpu fan sounds like a jet engine so I think I'll just stick with it and keep monitoring.
  14. I recently purchased a new computer and am currently running an AMD X2 4400 on an Asus A8N SLI-Premium mobo. I was quite intrigued by the idea of the Asus Q-Fan technology that changes cpu fan speeds according to system stress and temperature as a way of keeping down system noise. The problem I'm having with it is that when I boot my cpu I get a warning message saying that my CPU fan has failed or is too slow. Is this normal with Q-Fan enabled? or am I running the risk of frying my cpu? AFter bypassing that warning I have checked PC Probe and it says all temperatures are normal so I'm thinking that the fun is just stopped for a few seconds on startup. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  15. Thanks for the advice guys, yea that HDD was a mistake. In the end I'll probably end up going 200/200. Yea I'm buying from NCIX Cujo.
  16. I'm going to be purchasing a new computer shortly and am willing to put down a fair chunk of change on this one. I've put together a list of components and would really like some feedback! I'll be using it for gaming as well as other things. Right now my main game of interest(like many others here) is HL2 and its mods. 1 x PC ASSEMBLY AND TESTING (PRE-CONFIG OS IF PURCHASED) 1 x ANTEC P180 ATX ADVANCED MID TOWER ALUMINUM CASE 4X5.25 1X3.5 6X3.5INT NO PS W/ USB & AUDIO PORTS 1 x AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Dual Core Processor S939 Manchester 2Ghz 512KBX2 90NM Retail Box 1 x ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard NFORCE4-SLI S939 DDR 2XPCI-E16 2PCI-E 3PCI SATA RAID LAN Sound 1394 1 x OCZ Gold VX EL PC3200 1GB 2X512MB DDR400 CL-2-3-3-8 184PIN DIMM Dual Channel Memory Kit 1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 400GB SATA W/ NCQ 7200RPM 8MB 8.5MS RoHS Hard Drive OEM 5YEARS MFR Warranty 1 x SONY BLACK 1.44MB 3.5IN FLOPPY DRIVE 1 x BFG GEFORCE 7800 GTX OC PCI-E 256MB 256BIT GDDR3 DUAL DVI HDTV VIVO SLI READY VIDEO CARD 1 x OCZ OCZ45012U-450W MODSTREAM POWER SUPPLY PCI-E READY W/ EZMOD CABLE SYSTEM & BLUE LED FAN 1 x Microsoft Windows XP Professional X64 Edition OEM Single Licence W/ CD 1 x CREATIVE SOUND BLASTER AUDIGY 2 ZS 7.1 1394 24BIT OEM SOUND CARD 1 x BenQ DW1640 DVD +RW 16X8X16 -RW 16X6X16 DUAL LAYER +R 8X -R 4X BLACK IDE OEM W/ SW Thanks!
  17. In response to ZD's comment. I've always played with vsync off, ever since the CS beta releases, because vsync always capped your FPS. Is this still the case with source or is having vsync on no longer a problem?
  18. Thnaks for all the responses guys. Norguard its funny that you mention how some may not notice it becuase I called in my friend to help and he thinks I'm insane. He can't see anything wrong. On the drivers..... I know mine are out of the date but when i tried to install the latest Catalyst drivers I was unable to continue the installation. I unistalled the current drivers first and upon installation of the new ones its stopped and said i needed to required VGA drivers installed first. Has anyone else encountered this problem with ATI drivers? Was I supposed to uninstall the current ones 1st?
  19. I'm using the analog connection because my laptop doesnt have a DVI connection. I have emailed them and am awaiting a response.
  20. I recently purchased a NEC LCD1970GX monitor. It's pretty nice but I've having a really annoying issue with it. When i look at certain images, usually darker ones like blues, browns or the smoke in source I see these diagonal lines moving continuously through the screen. The problem looks even worse in game because I have to run it in 800x600 rather than the native res of 1280x1024. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is this normal for LCD monitors when they are out of their native res? I'm still within my return period so if its a problem with just this particular monitor I can always switch it.
  21. Good to see you back Dirk! Did LaG die?
  22. I've been looking closely at the Samsung 930B and the NEC 1970GX. Has anyone heard anything good or bad about these 2? edit: also taking a look at the viewsonic vx924 that Preacher pointed out. Thanks for all the input!
