All Kill3r June 2, 2004 Share All Kill3r Member June 2, 2004 heh true but thats intels top of the line. their second tier is the northwoods and prescotts which are very affordable im just really surprised at how amd is pricing their cpu's. i have to admit though im really glad to see them doing so well now, they have earned it. [Mmmm]Homer June 2, 2004 Author Share [Mmmm]Homer Member June 2, 2004 Everything on the bleeding edge is expensive. Intel is setting the high mark for CPU prices and AMD is charging as much as they think they can get away with. We all know it costs like $5 to fab one of these chips, a 4ghz chip doesn't cost more than a 2ghz chip to make. They'll milk 939 for a while and then slowly drop the prices. All Kill3r July 4, 2004 Share All Kill3r Member July 4, 2004 no kiddin... its the 3-3 that are slow, not the cas latency. Thats why OCZ's EB memory using micron chips compete right on par with the discontinued legacy of Winbound bh-5 chips. 3-2-2 will give almost the same performance as 2-2-2. you start talking x-3-3 or x-4-4 then thats when you start taking a performance hit. He should have tested 3-3-3 vs 3-2-2, i would if i had an A64, i know it makes a difference on my intel, a big difference.
