bullet-401 July 12, 2004 Share bullet-401 Member July 12, 2004 Is there going to be a DHCP server there like a router? Or are we going to have to hardcode our IP's in? If we have to hardcode there is a local lan I go to that sets up a great system for organising all the IP's. When you arrive and register they give you a card with info on events and stuff for the day. They also put down your IP, DNS, Subnet and such. Or we could connect a router to the switch and have that give out IP's. (Does that work?) Just throwing around some ideas to avoid what happened last year. dwEEziL July 12, 2004 Share dwEEziL Member July 12, 2004 My guess is DHCP will be available. If not, I had planed on bringing my 8-port router anyway (and probably my 4-port router/wap) and it can be used for DHCP. Just wondering, are we gonna have Internet connection? Don't figure we will, but was just curious.

appalachian_fox July 13, 2004 Share appalachian_fox Member July 13, 2004 Yeah, Dweez's router can handle DHCP. Most of the SOHO routers you pick up at Best Buy (or Newegg, or wherever) can DHCP a full C-class, no problem, which gives you an effective 253ish ips, considering multicasts and the router, so that should be more than sufficient.
