Ok i may sound stupid asking this but which is better a 256MB Geforce FX5950 or a 128MB Radeon X300?

The Geforce 256MB card.

btw, that is not a stupid question at all. That naming scheme is confusing. Those cards are like the 9600xt and 9200 I believe. Very low end now.

A Nvidia 5950 is not a low end card.

It was the best card Nvidia offered until the new line of 6800's, and can be directly compared to the ATI 9800XT.

A Radeon X300 shouldn't be considered in the same sentance as a 5950.

5950 is a much, much better card.

The X300 = 9600 non-pro with pci interface.

X300

-------------------

325 MHz

1300 MTexels/s

128-bit, DDR, 200 MHz, 6.4 GB/s

9600

-------------------

325 MHz

1300 MTexels/s

128-bit, DDR, 200 MHz, 6.4 GB/s

x600 = 9600 pro

are they released yet ? nvidia has a few around also. All budget cards though.
