Brillow_Head September 12, 2004 Share Brillow_Head Member September 12, 2004 As an admin I'd like to spectate suspisous peeps for griefing, hacking, and the like. Could we get spectators set to 2 plz.
hyperactiveChipmunk September 12, 2004 Share hyperactiveChipmunk Member September 12, 2004 I have not yet received word on how many (if any) spectators that we are allowed to have. Xgaming set it to 0 by default, and I don't want to increase it without their permission. Sorry. >8\ -hC
Brillow_Head September 12, 2004 Author Share Brillow_Head Member September 12, 2004 With the complaints of lag I'm not sure the server can handle it.
Fatty September 12, 2004 Share Fatty GC Founder September 12, 2004 I don't understand....would having a specator change the total connected? If it never goes above 20, I see no reason to not allow specators.
hyperactiveChipmunk September 13, 2004 Share hyperactiveChipmunk Member September 13, 2004 You can always spectate if there are less than 20 people connected. What brillow wants is two designated spectators to be allowed even when there are 20 people playing. I won't do that without permission from our provider. -hC
Fatty September 13, 2004 Share Fatty GC Founder September 13, 2004 No, that would mean 21 slots, and as said, increase lag. Is there a setting ingame that allows the maxplayers to only mean "playing" players?
hyperactiveChipmunk September 13, 2004 Share hyperactiveChipmunk Member September 13, 2004 By default, anyone who is in the game can be a spectator. The "Spectators" configuration option defines how many people are allowed to connect and only spectate if the server is already full. I'm not sure exactly what you're asking. -hC
Fatty September 13, 2004 Share Fatty GC Founder September 13, 2004 You just answered my question. Some spectators setting allows Joe schmoe to join server when it's 20/20 and spectate. That's 21 people connected. That's not what we're paying for, nor what we want as far as performance. So, my question is why can't Brillow fall into a spectator slot at anytime? Or does the game automatically allow "extra" slots if you set spectators to 2? If this is a must, then we gotta drop to 18 game slots, cause I've heard enough about lag to last a year. Brillow_Head September 13, 2004 Author Share Brillow_Head Member September 13, 2004 I've thought about joining a game and dropping to spectate, unfortunately the server has spectators set to 0 so the option is not availible.
Fatty September 13, 2004 Share Fatty GC Founder September 13, 2004 So, are you saying that allowing spectators at all will by default raise the maxplayers? Allowing 2 spectators should mean that 18 can play and 2 can spec.
hyperactiveChipmunk September 13, 2004 Share hyperactiveChipmunk Member September 13, 2004 In un-mutated UT2k4, setting Specators to 2 means 20 players + 2 spectators can be in the server at once. -hC

Mk5 September 14, 2004 Share Mk5 Member September 14, 2004 I agree as I was part of that conversation. I think that an admin that is logged in ingame should be able to spectate and no-one else.
