Kenger December 6, 2004 Share Kenger Member December 6, 2004 Read about this in Wired magazine here is a link with specs. http://alienware.com/product_detail_pages/...ode=SKU-DEFAULT makes plasma screen tvs look like 1980 technology.
appalachian_fox December 6, 2004 Share appalachian_fox Member December 6, 2004 It just looks like a standard LCD to me...Granted, I hit it with a very brief view before I run out of the office on an errand jaunt, but what's the biggie on it, I want to look more when I get home. dwEEziL December 6, 2004 Share dwEEziL Member December 6, 2004 Like Appalachian Fox said, it's a standard LCD monitor. The only place it would be Plasma is in the pocket book.

appalachian_fox December 7, 2004 Share appalachian_fox Member December 7, 2004 Well, if you're looking for media center convergence, put everything in one box, it doesn't look bad. Granted, I didn't read any of the tech. specs on it, but it looks like a perfectly fine LCD monitor, and LCDs generally have less problems with dead pixels than plasmas do. However, there's nothing really special about it. It's not something you couldn't do with a good PC and an LCD monitor, though that means an extra box. I'd be afraid to ask how much it costs... All Kill3r December 7, 2004 Share All Kill3r Member December 7, 2004 $7,659.00 as low as $230/mo.* Price is before all applicable rebates. yea, just a little over priced.
appalachian_fox December 7, 2004 Share appalachian_fox Member December 7, 2004 Yeeesh! *cringes* It's a neat concept, but probably price-wise it's before its time. It'd take someone with deep pockets and a resistance to sticker shock to slap down that dough. Of course, Alienware makes good stuff, I'm sure it's a quality product. appalachian_fox December 8, 2004 Share appalachian_fox Member December 8, 2004 Again, if you want convergence, sure, it's a good thing, but nothing you couldn't do with a PC and an LCD monitor...For roughly half the price.
