I got to the point where Dog brings out his stupid ball to throw at me violently, and he tosses something toward Alyx and guess what happens? She gets stuck in it preventing me from progressing...

 

I hate that thing.

I am an autosave fiend. It's a great way to not have to replay a lot on hard levels (perhaps it's a bit of a metagaming tool, but I don't care) and an insurance against crashes, glitches, dumpsters being thrown onto NPCs...you know, the usual. Insurance policies are good on any level of play.

 

Also, I use it to go back to the beginning of good cut scenes or particularly fun battles and do a full save so I can replay that segment at will.
