HL2 Error

Say fellows, everytime I open up HL2 theres an error that closes the program automatically. Should I just reinstall?

Try reinstalling HL2. Have you had any problems with any other games or applications?

You can reinstall, but there's another option you could try first

 

1) First, backup your saved games!!! custom maps and config.cfg file(s). Makes things a lot easier later on

2) Open steam, go to the "Play games" page and right click on HL2 and hit properties

3) Hit the "Delete local game content" to wipe out your HL2

4) Now close this and go back to the "Play games" page, now right click on HL2 and hit "Install game"

5) once it finishes downloading everything, put your saved games, config files and stuff back in.

 

Violla (on second though, try running without the saved games and stuff first, i.e. just to see if it works at that point, then put your stuff back in)
