CowboyFromHell`X February 18, 2003 Share CowboyFromHell`X Member February 18, 2003 I have a NVIDIA Geforce4 MX420 and I can't turn Vsync off. I do the right click and go to the card options. Then I go into the OpenGL and Direct 3d settings and it says NOTHING about Vsync. How do I turn it off? And if you do know, explain this to me like I'm a hamster. Gond February 18, 2003 Share Gond Member February 18, 2003 First thing is to make sure you have the latest drivers for the card.

Asphyxiator February 18, 2003 Share Asphyxiator Member February 18, 2003 Its in your opengl advanced properties. Just go to Vsync and select "Always off". It comes default with "On By Default". Vsynch technically doesnt hurt your framerate so that it looks bad, its just keeping your fps the same speed as your refresh rate. Some of the best CPL and Cal-i players play with it on, they say its makes it smoother.
Hendryx February 18, 2003 Share Hendryx Member February 18, 2003 I play with it on. For me on my Geforce 4 Ti 4200, it really smooths motion. The game doesn't look as choppy and I think my aim is slightly better. If you have a decent monitor, go with vsync. My monitor is at 85 Hz at all times, which is plenty for me. I can't really notice the difference between 85 and 99 anyhow (which technically there isn't any, because you're only going to see how fast your monitor can refresh. Vsync just smooths it for you).
