Tek-Almighty October 7, 2006 Share Tek-Almighty Member October 7, 2006 I have used powerDVD for about 3 years and I really like it. For some reason, it will not work on my system after my latest clean install of Windows XP (???...tried everything i could think of). Not only that, but I cannot get Windows media player to play the audio on DVD's. Strange. Sounds like a hardware problem, but it's happened on two mobos. It could be my plextor 712A DVD/RW, but I doubt it, as it can rip DVD (audio and video) from a standard DVD and write that data to a blank DVD. I really need a suggestion for a good, cool interface and cheap (preferably free) DVD playback application that will stand up to the challenge. Anyone? Preacher October 8, 2006 Share Preacher Member October 8, 2006 You download ffshow and try again. It's a freeware little deal but when I had the same issue it made it all better .
CrashOverride October 9, 2006 Share CrashOverride Member October 9, 2006 If your useing windows and did a clean install, you may be missing the necessary codecs. Under windows not all are free. This may help. http://www.free-codecs.com/guides/Checking..._Windows_XP.htm Crash
TheGeek October 9, 2006 Share TheGeek Member October 9, 2006 I agree with crash. I'm assuming that powerDVD installed correctly. Mine had that problem. You can download a powerDVD codec pack that goes onto the powerDVD program. I cant find a link so I think this one will work http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm And no, I cannot think of another good dvd program. Preacher October 9, 2006 Share Preacher Member October 9, 2006 ignore them because the free ffshow contains all the codecs you need for prolly 99% of all playback. You might need another codec for quicktime or flash stuff but most everything else is contained in ffshow and no spyware unlike k-lite.
