speedfan says my hdo is running to hot

what should the hdo be at temp wise?

 

sorry for all the questions but i dont want my expensive computer to fall apart.

hd sounds like hard drive but not sure what the o is.

haven't checked recently but i'd say 50c under load is max. my raptors typically idle at 32-34c.

 

make sure if you have more then one that there is a gap between them. each hard drive should have one hard drive thickness between it and anything else.

i have only one it is a 250gig serial ata

 

i moved it lower in the case and took out all the metal seperators, it lowered the idle temp some, i will add a fan to this area too.

My raptors are idling now at 23-24C, so I would say no more than mid 30s load. Like Cujo said, leave enough space between the drives for ventilation. I have an intake fan in front of both my raptors that keeps them cool at all times.

geez how cold is your room? lol my room temp is about 22-23c... though i do keep my drives in the back top corner of the case so they'd be a little cooler if i put them down infront of my intake fans.

speedfan or everest work pretty good.

 

 

edit - i just realized that hdo is hd0 as in zero. which makes it your primary hard drive. if speed fan says it's running too hot then it's probably over 50c which is scary for a hard drive.

Everest is a great diagnostic program. Its free, but its also been discontinued by the developer. If you search, you will find a site that hosts it.

well i will get an intake fan and mount it on my hd0 so that will cool it down.

 

i wonder why my comp is running so dang hot, i am angry now.

my hard drive still still idles around 51c, i have a new case and everything else is in the 30's, maybe i just have a hd that runs really hot. i dont get it.

well does it feel warm? the sensor could just be off.
