you can easily get a movie in good quality at 300-500mb.

However, the battery only really lasts long enough to watch about 1 full film.

I went out and bought a cable that allows me to hook mine up to RCA inputs on a tv and then I plug the charger into the wall and I can carry my dvd collection in my pocket.

as for how to get videos on it start here

uh...also...you could just buy movies and stuff through iTunes. It's a ton less hassle and actually doesn't cost that much.

I agreed with ^ these numskulls :)

Also, if he is into podcasts, check that in iTunes.

For example, there is a free podcast (most are) called dl.tv (also their site) that talks about new products and reviews and hype about the computer/technological world. You can download their iPod format that is nice.

if you want to put dvds that you already own onto the iPod.. I'm not sure how exactly is a super easy way. It took me 2 weeks of trying to find good freeware programs to rip/convert/encode dvds from mpeg2/4 to .avi so I can watch them on my palm treo.

Also, I like that link, that helps out if you want to get technical.

But definitely check out iTunes7. You'll pay for convince but some ppl like that.
