Magruter December 19, 2006 Share Magruter Member December 19, 2006 My mom just bought my dad a 30 gig video ipod, she's wondering how do you get videos on it? Can you watch movies? How much room does a movie take up?
Playaa December 19, 2006 Share Playaa Member December 19, 2006 you can easily get a movie in good quality at 300-500mb. However, the battery only really lasts long enough to watch about 1 full film. I went out and bought a cable that allows me to hook mine up to RCA inputs on a tv and then I plug the charger into the wall and I can carry my dvd collection in my pocket. as for how to get videos on it start here http://arstechnica.com/guides/tweaks/ipod-video.ars uh...also...you could just buy movies and stuff through iTunes. It's a ton less hassle and actually doesn't cost that much.

appalachian_fox December 19, 2006 Share appalachian_fox Member December 19, 2006 Easily? Buy the movies through iTunes movie store. That's the simplest way. There's probably software you can buy which will pull it from sources you already own, that's probably the second-easiest way. I think they referenced some software you could buy for Windows in the article above, though honestly I skimmed it.
ZesteR December 19, 2006 Share ZesteR Member December 19, 2006 I agreed with ^ these numskulls Also, if he is into podcasts, check that in iTunes. For example, there is a free podcast (most are) called dl.tv (also their site) that talks about new products and reviews and hype about the computer/technological world. You can download their iPod format that is nice. if you want to put dvds that you already own onto the iPod.. I'm not sure how exactly is a super easy way. It took me 2 weeks of trying to find good freeware programs to rip/convert/encode dvds from mpeg2/4 to .avi so I can watch them on my palm treo. Also, I like that link, that helps out if you want to get technical. But definitely check out iTunes7. You'll pay for convince but some ppl like that. Playaa December 19, 2006 Share Playaa Member December 19, 2006 "easily..." if you want really easy it's either iTunes or "free" movies. There are tons of groups out on the web that post videos and movies specifically encoded for video ipod...
