[LaW]Maverick February 1, 2007 Share [LaW]Maverick Member February 1, 2007 (edited) I'm thinking 'bout upgrading my PC so it's more powerful than this laptop...lol Here's what I'm thinking: - EVGA Motherboard with SLi and other goodies - 2 BFG GeForce 8800's (lifetime warranty and OCed) - BFG 1000w Power Supply - Core 2 Quad Core Processor (2.44 ghz) - 2 gigs worth of OCZ Gold DDR2 800 RAM (I already have one Gig) And that's what it'll take to have one baaaad system. I already have optic drives and a good Thermaltake Xaser V case. The gig of RAM I already have lowers the cost a couple hundred-fifty or so.....I'm also going to probably get a nice 22" Viewsonic LCD for my birthday here in March.... Total cost as of now (I'm going to wait a couple months): $2,071.96 What you guys think? Edited February 1, 2007 by [LaW]Maverick
Vovik February 1, 2007 Share Vovik Member February 1, 2007 waste of money! i like everything beside the videocards and the processor. They are way overpriced right now, and totally worthless at this point. There's no DX10 games, and there isn't any use for 4 cores. In Source there isn't any for even a dual core! For now....Later when prices go down maybe it'll be worth it
[LaW]Maverick February 1, 2007 Author Share [LaW]Maverick Member February 1, 2007 That's why I'm waiting a few months: - ATI will launch a DX10 card which will lower the prices - AMD will launch their quad core chip soon, which will also lower the prices In other words, I'm looking to spend a butt-load of money so that I don't have to worry 'bout upgrading again for 6 years or so, but I'm going to wait until the prices drop just a bit Waiting 2 or 3 months should save me at least 2 or 300 dollars
Allanon February 1, 2007 Share Allanon Member February 1, 2007 Quad core would be nice, especially with Supreme Commander....
