I have a HP Compaq dx2000 Microtower PC that only has 256MB RAM. I can't run Netbeans and other demanding programs on it without bogging it down. I want to upgrade it to at least 512MB

Any help?

I am uncertain of what to do, but i want to upgrade the RAM.

From HP's site:

256 MB PC2-5300 (DDR2 667MHz) DIMM

or

HP 512 MB PC3200 (DDR 400MHz)

I'm very certain that all slots are DDR, not DDR2. I can't imagine HP putting two slot types in their consumer comps. DDR2 memory is longer and has more pins. If the other two slots are the same size as the first two, then they are also DDR. If you want to upgrade, you need to get the same thing as what you already have to run dual channel. DDR2 will NOT fit in DDR slots. have fun :D
