Graphics Card ??

So as I start looking at things again, I am looking at some 8800GTS cards. (note, tell me if this is not good).

 

Anyhow, as I look, which do you guys think is better;

 

CPU clock: 576

Mem amount:640M

 

CPU clock: 678

Mem amount: 512M

 

For about the same price, which would you choose?

get the 512mb one. it's much newer and higher performing.

Part 2: I now see that there is PCI express x16 and PCI express 2 x16 (horrible naming convention btw). Is 2 the way everything is going these days? And will 1 cards work in 2? 2 cards work in 1?

yes to both. they are each compatible with each other and you won't notice a difference on this generation of cards.

but you may be able to transfer the 2.0 cards over to the next gen boards
