discom September 3, 2008 Share discom Member September 3, 2008 I am going to buy a laptop this week for school. I will only be using it for surfing, doing homework, and compiling programs. Also, i need something that is small, inexpensive (<$600), and has long battery life. I have been thinking of getting either the ASUS Eee PC 1000 ($550), or the MSI Wind U100 ($500). I'm very indecisive and don't know which to choose. Anyone have any suggestions?

[LaW]Maverick September 4, 2008 Share [LaW]Maverick Member September 4, 2008 ASUS FTW.... I have the Eee PC 2G Surf (their lowest end model) to run my MagicJack at home. It works pretty well--I stuck XP Pro on it (MJ doesn't work with Linux yet) and it's pretty freakin' quick for such a wee lil' machine. It takes less than 30 seconds to get into windows thanks to the Solid State HDD.
