akaM2 February 10, 2009 Share akaM2 Member February 10, 2009 Thought I remember a topic about this but couldnt find it. What is the best way to reset a windows xp login password? Need to help a friend who locked themselves out of it. Tried searching for programs, but most make you pay and are probably full of spyware. NorgmaN February 10, 2009 Share NorgmaN Member February 10, 2009 You can restart as admin in safe mode and go from there... I think anyway.
Shazz February 10, 2009 Share Shazz Member February 10, 2009 resetting a password if super easy with XP Home edition, if you have a login with administrator privileges... and if you don't use the classic start menu then the start button should pop up with a selection called "RUN". Click on that and enter the command "control userpasswords2"this will give a list of all the current profiles. Select one and there's a button on the bottom that says "Reset Password". At that point it will ask for the new password you would like to assign. Violla! I ran across this...give this a shot?
