Hailfire October 6, 2011 Share Hailfire Member October 6, 2011 Between Hunger and not knowing if the map is going to be reset with 1.9 release no one is really playing that much. Personally I don't care to put to much time into something if we know we are going to make a new world. Thanks Flitterkill, great job on the server and keeping everyone apprised of whats going on. amertrash October 6, 2011 Share amertrash Member October 6, 2011 I haven't really had an issue with food, I find sprinting eats it up quick but thats about it. No idea why would start another new map for 1.9.
Hailfire October 6, 2011 Share Hailfire Member October 6, 2011 As Flitter said in another thread : Also a note from Bukkit: "Please note: for those of you who are considering generating a new world for Minecraft 1.8, please remember that you will likely have to do the same for Minecraft 1.9." Flitterkill October 6, 2011 Author Share Flitterkill GC Board Member October 6, 2011 Yeah it really comes down to either a whole new 1.9 world or all the new terrain/towns/whatever is coming with 1.9 append onto what is there now. I've no real horse in this race but you all should come to a consensus of what ya want.
Hailfire October 6, 2011 Share Hailfire Member October 6, 2011 Seeing as how I have already given up on minecraft until 1.9 I personally vote for a map reset. Sucks all the work I've put into my sky-bridge thing but 1.9 adds a whole lot of new stuff and I think it would be worth it. 11/11/11 is the official release date of minecraft, whole month away but should not need a new world for a long time after it is released and will be much less buggy. Shazz October 7, 2011 Share Shazz Member October 7, 2011 Same here. I love this game, but I dont want to waste time on something that is going to be removed anyway. Plus some of the current features are bugged. Hope 1.9 fixes everything so I can start playing again.
amertrash October 7, 2011 Share amertrash Member October 7, 2011 I see no problem with keeping the existing map, the new stuff will spawn in new chunks. Even after official 1.0 comes out there will still be updates - are we gonna make a new world every 2 months?
Hailfire October 7, 2011 Share Hailfire Member October 7, 2011 With the official release it should be mostly bug free, and likely won't have much added in the way for biomes/npc for some time after. when 1.9 is release it should include all the features of 1.0 but with bugs. So if they release 1.9(short of unknown bugs) we should be fine for a long time after. If we do create a new world I'll help you remake your trap amertrash, in fact I think it would be cool if we had 3-4 people working on it and make it massive. We all gotta start mining somewhere so might as well put it to good use.
amertrash October 8, 2011 Share amertrash Member October 8, 2011 1.9PR3 is out, lots of new stuff - some of which won't be finished for the official 1.9 release. Jeb has posted pics of the skill system, and Notch just posted a pic of a dragon of which neither will be in 1.9. I also doubt that the "official" release will make 11/11/11 and the game will still continue to evolve - It's a bit tricky to really do a release for Minecraft as we keep updating it all the time. For one, the version we deem as the “full version†won’t be very different at all from what the game was like a week ago, and we’ll keep adding features after the release as well, so it’s really more of a milestone when we finally get rid of the Beta label, and some kind of goal for us to work towards If we do do another new world I'm switching servers. Part of the fun of Minecraft is the longevity and I see no real reason in starting another new world.
Madvillain October 10, 2011 Share Madvillain Member October 10, 2011 (edited) If we spawn a new world I am not touching Minecraft until the official game is released and even then it may be a while.... just getting sick of having to rebuild all the time. -Too bad we can't take the current world as a world seed so the newly spawned world would have the things we already built.
