Update problem?

Well, there was an update on steam for left for dead. I try to join and it say:

 

 

Sending UDP connect to public IP 216.52.148.77:27015

Invalid host version, expecting 2106, got 2105

BinkOpen( c:\jocuri\steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\media\l4d2_background03.bik )

 

 

 

Any ideas?

Getting the same problem - Steam update issue I suspect

Anytime you get that message when connecting to a server, it means:

 

"Invalid host version, expecting 2106 (This is the version of the game you have), got 2105 (This is the version of the server)."

 

 

When connecting, your game is verifying the version of your game and the version of the server's. If they don't match, a connection cannot be made. Server was out of date and updates are automated when it detects no players in the server.

So would manually restarting the server force it to update, since that should disconnect everyone?

 

If that's the case, just let Jackie, Nightling or I know and we can restart it... that is if you have any of us on your steam friends' list.

Manually restarting doesn't trigger an update. It's an automated process that is done through NFO's systems from my understanding of it.

Yeah this happens with almost every update. It's just a matter of waiting for NFO to update it on their end then all is well, usually. Sometimes a plugin or 2 needs fixed or updated as well and wont work correctly for a while.
