Sometimes I wonder how they decide what is truly breaking news and what is not. We are a very marginalized with little to no visibility in the sports world. Coming out is a huge step for us and to do it while in the spotlight (or even not) means you will face a lot of bigotry and undue hatred. This gives hope and pride to many people who still struggle with their gender identity and may even ease some of that bigotry we face. I am shocked it is so large in the media because usually stuff like this is swept under the rug and completely ignored. It makes sense though because gay marriage is right around the corner.
